I've had the refillable mug once a year when I stay at Pop. Problems from last fall:

1. Several drink stations are not functioning at any given time.
2. Ice dispensers often ran out of ice.
3. Pop is often warm and lacking carbonation; should taste a sample before getting more. If not good, try a different station.
4. Computer controlled chip means I first got a small mouthful of coke to make sure it is fully carbonated, and when I went to get more it claimed that I already had a full mug and must wait to refill.
5. Lots of people wanting to get drinks even during slow season; must wait a few minutes. I can't imagine what it's like during peak season.

Recommend: buy bottled pop. More expensive, but worth it if you just love pop. (you can keep it in your room fridge so that it stays freezing cold.) If you don't have to have pop, buy a few big jugs at home grocery store and fill the family full of pop the week before you go. That way they are sick of it and only want water in Disney World. It's better for you anyway, and save a ton of pop money. A 20oz bottle coke in Disney World costs about $3.

What did management say when you brought all of this to their attention?

Haven't noticed. When I buy a refillable mug it is for coffee/iced tea. I don't drink soda. Sorry to hear about these issues you had.

I personally have never had a problem refilling my mug at POP food court. I did worry about that when they first started with the chip thingy as I like my Cokes. I usually fill mine, drink some then refill right away before even going to table to sit down. Never had a problem. Did notice sometimes some of the ice machines were not working but just moved over to the next one. No big deal as long as some of them worked.

I was visiting Port Orleans and the soda machine malfunctioned and only got a mouthful. Attempted to use a different machine and was locked out. Had to wait I think 2 minutes before I could use the machine again

I din't bring it to management's attention because they knew the pop stations are broken. They put up signs, or there are parts sticking way out that obviously shouldn't. The thing is, it wasn't just a one time thing. The stations took turns going out, and each would last for days. I got the feeling that such is normal business there now. The refillable mugs have always been not so great an experience, but last summer was the worst. Also, I don't know why Disney thinks they have to ration the pop like that, making you wait before you can get refills. People are already waiting in line just to get the first fill. Do people really go to Disney World to abuse their pop privileges? You can get free refills at fast food places such as mcdonald's, and I haven't noticed them having a free refill abuse problem. Aren't the people in Disney richer than the people in McDonald's and should care less to guzzle pop?

Same here. I normally only drink ice tea. But last summer I was breastfeeding and felt a huge urge to drink pop. I only had a mug a day or so, but it was tough getting the right pop where it isn't warm or flat.

They "think they have to ration pop like that" because of abuse of the refill station.

Nice!!! Really???
I go to Disney. I use my mug. I am not "rich"

I didn't say "rich". I said "richer." There's a difference. And the only thing not nice here is your comment.

Ok Sorry for not saying it correctly. I do not judge myself or others by my/their economic status. I do not think that is nice. You apparently think it is ok, based on your initial comment.
And I didn't insult you

They ration for 2 minutes, and then you can refill. This is to prevent people from filling their mug, dumping it into another larger mug they brought from home, and then filling again. They have it this way because people WERE taking advantage, buying one mug and refilling for several people.

Yep. And before they used the chip, people were using all kinds of cup.

The chip with a time limit was the best way to stop people from cheating the system.

This is something I would bring to Guest Relations attention if management doesn't or didn't do anything. I mean if its a constant and not a one-time thing, that shouldn't be.
