any tips un using this stuff? What is it? Where does one get it?
How do you apply it?

It's available at any department store like Walmart or Target and also drug stores like CVS and Walgreens. They are in the foot department.

It's kind of like a sticker and you peel off the back and stick it to any hot spots where to tend to get blisters BEFORE you even get them! Or if you already got one you can put it on the blister to prevent any more pain.

It's like a second skin to protect your real skin! It's soft and beige. It's a miracle!!

We started using it a couple trips ago. We ended up getting it at the gift shop at the BW. I never had problems with my feet on previous trips, but for some reason we needed it for that one. Now we buy it ahead of time at Walgreen's in a large "sheet" and cut it into small squares. It really is worth it if you have blister problems.

And guess what!!! I learned about it a few years ago here on the DIS!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on keeping the mole skin on the right spot? I have used them in the past and although they do work well, at times they slip from the spot I've put them. I have tried putting bandaids over the top but depending on where the blister is the bandaids roll or come off as well.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions!

My biggest moleskin tip is it needs to be cut with scissors, so make sure you pack a small pair in your checked (not carry on) luggage.

I'm an athletic trainer (sports medicine) and many times I've used tape adherant (can get it where they sell athletic tape). Spray a little tape adherant on your foot, where you are going to put the moleskin and let it dry a bit then put the moleskin on.

Be sure you use moleskin if you don't have a formed blister. If you do have a formed blister use second skin.

I agree. Only use moleskin if you don't have a formed blister (just use it on hot spots where it has worked great for me). Once you have a formed blister, don't use it. It will adhere to the blister and be very painful to remove.

I put moleskin on the toes where i got blisters last time at WDW, BEFORE the blisters formed, and it was wonderful. I did use bandaids to keep the moleskin from "moving". Felt like my socks and sneakers wouldn't fit, but they did and it was very comfortable walking every day.

Thanks for all of the great tips! I usually get blisters on the back of my heals...at the top where my tennis shoes rub and regardless of what kind of tennis shoes I buy good quality or not I still get blisters there. I think I'll try my sandles this time it might even be better since it will be hot and it will probably rain some while we are there. Do you buy second skin in the bandaid section?

Thanks again for your information!

Here's a couple more hints from the "Blister Queen" (only because I've had to take care of so many athletes with them)

Wear 2 pairs of socks in your tennies. If this doesn work, put some vaseline between the pairs of socks at the hot spots. Sometimes you can stick the moleskin to your shoe and let the soft part face your foot, sometimes that works. Just anything you can do to reduce the friction of your shoe on your foot.

Second Skin is amazing stuff. If you can't get that, use vaseline and a bandaid. That works pretty good too.

OOPS!

Sorry about that last post...read the question wrong.

Second skin is available in most drug stores and also in some sporting goods stores where athletic tape is sold.

A company called Spenco, makes the most popular form of second skin. It's a jell like substance with plastic on both sides.

Peel off the plastic, stick it to the blister and cover with a bandaid.

Wonderful stuff.

Moleskin is fantastic and has saved my feet on several vacations.

The other thing that helped on my last vacation was an extra pair of socks. I waited a wee bit too long to put Moleskin on a hot spot and it just didn't do the trick. I was desperate so went into the nearest gift shop and bought a pair of socks and put them on over the pair I was already wearing. I was pain and blister free for the rest of my trip.

Have fun! :teeth:

Do not put it anywhere else except for your feet. For example if you get chaffing, don't put moleskin on it. If you do, and pull the moleskin off, all your skin will come off with it. Trust me on this one.
