Tips on ID for Ipad, in case its left behind while traveling?

Other then the Find My and Apple Air Tag for me I think I'd just write my contact info on a piece of clear tape or Duck Tape with a noticeable Sharpie, the black sharpie pop on silver

I could be wrong… We dropped an airpod by accident a few times and was under the impression it was the bluetooth turned on and other people with apple products getting in range that pinpointed the locations. One time was at a rural gas station in spotty service area and another was in an airbnb couch where we had trouble making any calls within that apartment. My child explained there’s always chains of pings on apple products no matter where you are nowadays, so doesn’t need to rely on a signal or wi-fi. Not sure

Nope, you're not wrong! AirPods use Bluetooth to connect to your iPhone. So they can be detected by Apple's Find My network.

The “Find My” doesn’t work great with AirPods. It seems to show the last location they were used. I lost my AirPods (case and all). I tried every thing I could to find them, but all it would show me the last location I was using them (work). I tried playing the sound etc… No luck finding them.

Mine were old first generation, and I was kind of thinking about upgrading them anyway. I ended up replacing them and attached an Air Tag to the protective case (that like goes on a keychain).




Interesting side note on that… a few months later I was at work and I was getting ready to go in, and I was filling up my cup with pop. I dropped the lid from the bottle and it fell between the console and the seat. As I was digging around trying to retrieve that bottle cap I felt something that felt a lot like an AirPods case. Yep, I found the missing AirPods.

Make sure the phone number you have them call is the current phone number you and/or your companion will be using. No family member in another state who can't pick it up for you.

You want to make it QUICK and EASY for someone to get it back to you. If you make it difficult, or someone has to go out of their way, or it's too time consuming, they will drop it off at Lost & Found of the nearest building to them. (They may have walked with it a ways as they were trying to figure out what to do. So, it may be in a building you were even in. Or they figure you will use the Find My feature and simply come to wherever they are.) If it goes to Lost & Found, it then goes in a box or on a shelf. If there is a main Lost & Found, it may make it's way there at the end of the day. Then it will be up to you to try and track it down there.

Also add a current photo of you or a copy of one on your phone, or something easy to describe to prove, once you open the tablet, that it really is yours.
