I will be visiting friends in LA in a few weeks. On the weekdays I'm there, they will be working and I really want to take a solo day trip to Disneyland! I wanted to get some tips on driving to DL from the West Hollywood area.

Does anyone who lives in the area have any tips? I will be going on a Monday or a Tuesday and would like to get there before the park opens. TIA! :)

Check on a map (mapquest) to see where exactly you'll be in West Hollywood. Hop on either the 10 East or the 101 South (whichever is closer to your starting point, probably the 101) to the 5 South. Exit at Disneyland Drive and you're there. See what mapquest says regarding the time, but I'd give myself about an hour (more or less depending on what time of day it is). Of course, traffic will probably be bad at points, but this is the most direct route and it will all be worth it when you're walking up Main St. :cool1:

Thanks! I did check the online maps, it said I-5 would take about 45 minutes, up to 2.5 hours in traffic:scared1: so any tips on missing the worst traffic is helpful! I thought there may be an insider alternate route or something. I've been to California Adventure once, but my friend was driving and we were coming in from the South.

There really is no more direct route than taking the 101 S to the 5 S. I think an hour is realistic. Even with normal traffic, 2.5 hours is a huge overestimate. Once you get past downtown LA, traffic should lighten a little. As for timing, obviously you want to avoid rush hour, but this will be difficult assuming you want to arrive at park opening. You may just have to sit in a little traffic, otherwise, leave super early (6 am?) and plan on eating breakfast near the park to kill some time before rope drop. The Original Pancake House on Lincoln Blvd in Anaheim (about 3 mi from DL) is great. If you're leaving DL anytime after 7pm, traffic should be OK. Enjoy your adventure. :thumbsup2

it really varies day by day...

I used to commute from SouthBay --> Fullerton.
There are days where it takes like an hour to get there... but there is that ONE time, i was stuck in traffic for 3 hours and got to class really late... :\

So yeah, Traffic is unpredictable as well. BUT i would check like sigalert.com before you leave and see where to avoid traffics and take alternative routes...
