Just a few recommendations if you’re trying to cancel a reservation or call member services today.
1) cancel online- points won’t go into holding unless of they were in holding before you booked.

2) No member services cannot Bank your already banked points. Even if you speak with a supervisor. (Will update of this changes)

3) Be nice. These cast members are working in a building with no fresh air locked in a room risking their health to help.

4) reservation points cannot be backed either.

stay safe everyone! May your hold times be short 😊

If you cancel online, what happens to: (a) borrowed points, i.e., are those being sent back to their original use year; or (b) current use year points that are now beyond the banking deadline, i.e., can those be banked?

If you cancel online the points will go back to wherever they came from. They can make the exception to bank late. I’d call in the next few days if you have an April use year. Any other I’d give it a few weeks.

Here is some important information that might help you.
Disney Vacation Club Coronavirus (COVID-19) Travel Alert

March 13, 2020
In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our guests and employees, Disney is proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, beginning the morning of Saturday, March 14, and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Paris Resort, beginning at the close of business on Sunday, March 15, through the end of the month.
All Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Aulani, Vero Beach and Hilton Head, remain open and are accepting reservations. The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will remain open until Monday, March 16 to give guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements, but will then close till the end of the month.
The hotels at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris will remain open until further notice. The retail and dining complexes, Disney Springs at Walt Disney World, Disney Village at Disneyland Paris and Downtown Disney At Disneyland will remain open.
Disney Cruise Line will suspend all new departures beginning Saturday, March 14, through April 12, 2020.
The Walt Disney Company will pay its cast members and employees during this time.
We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts.
Below, you'll find information on impacts to current and upcoming plans. Please continue to check this page for additional updates. Given the higher-than-normal call volume at our Contact Center, we ask that Members who do not have a reservation with an arrival in the next 2 weeks wait to contact us. Any Member that would like to book a new Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation or modify an existing reservation may do so through the Member Online Booking Tool..
RESORTS
I have a future stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort at Walt Disney World while the park is closed. What does that mean for my vacation?

All Disney Vacation Club resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Aulani, Vero Beach and Hilton Head, remain open and all reservations are still active. Should you choose to cancel your reservation, your vacation points will not be placed in a holding account and will be returned to their current Use Year. This exception also applies for Members cancelling via the Member Online Booking Tool.
If I have a future stay at a resort in the Disney Collection and want to cancel, what will happen to my points?
We apologize that your vacation has been impacted. All Disney Collection reservations using reservations points will be returned as reservations points for your future enjoyment.
TICKETS
I have already purchased tickets for my stay. What will happen to my tickets?

  • Any date-specific theme park tickets with a use period from March 12, 2020 through March 31, 2020, or unexpired multi-day theme park tickets with unused days will automatically be extended to be valid for use for any date through December 15, 2020. If you are unable to visit by December 15, 2020, you may apply the remaining value of your unused tickets toward a future ticket purchase.
  • Florida Resident Discover Disney Tickets may be used through July 31, 2020.
  • Tickets purchased for Disney After Hours, Disney Villains After Hours and Disney Early Morning Magic from March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020 will be automatically refunded.
ANNUAL PASSES
How does the closure of Walt Disney World impact annual passes?

Walt Disney World annual passes will be extended by the number of days the parks are closed, March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020.
DINING & OTHER EXPERIENCES
I have a pre-paid dining reservation or experience reservation like Droid Depot during the time when the parks are closed. Will I receive a refund?

All pre-paid dining and experience reservations will be automatically refunded if scheduled between March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020.
What happens to dining reservations that required a credit card at the time of booking?
Reservations made at locations impacted by the closure will not be charged a cancellation or no-show fee.
FASTPASS+
Do I need to cancel my FastPass+ reservation scheduled for March 16, 2020 through March 31, 2020 when the parks are closed?

All FastPass+ reservations during this time period will be automatically cancelled.

For DVC members, dining plans can be cancelled online. I don’t know for non-DVC members.
For non -DVC members going into your My Disney Experience acct. Click on My Plans. Scroll down you should see a circle that says Dining. Click on the circle and it should bring up your dinning reservation if you have linked them to your MDE acct. Then you can cancel the reservation.

Right, that is for cancelling the dining reservation, not the Disney dining plan.

Looks like the website is down right now. We borrowed points for an April 3-5 stay at BLT....does anyone know if I cancel online if those points will go back into our 2020 use year that we borrowed from? I am concerned that they will go into our current use year that ends July 31st...we would be unable to use them for a rebooking before then.

I have the same question. I just had a waitlist come thru for my March 27th trip and the system borrowed 10 points for the upgrade. Will those 10 points go back to 2020 or are they unbankable in 2019 points now (Aug UY)? I have not physically canceled my trip yet. Was hoping to talk to someone but so far, no luck getting through.

The only thing happening online with the points is that they don’t have the holding exception on them,

In order for the borrowed points to be put back, assuming they are doing it for April reservations now...as of the other day some were saying they were not,,,that has to be done by CMS so you have to call or chat,

Some CMs...the one that I got,,,know how to do it and can do it on the phone. Others have said that they were told it could take a few weeks,

You will have to call or chat to ask that they return the borrowed points.

Has anyone seen whether reservations will be automatically cancelled if they fall within the closure period or do we need to actually cancel them ourselves? The notifications I have seen don't specify that and I see the reservation is still on my dashboard.

Unfortunately, some of this information is out of date. The WDW and Vero Beach resorts will close as of 5 PM this coming Friday, March 20.

See this page for the most up to date information - keep in mind it can change, so check back here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/travel-information/.

Also, here's DVC's message to us, sent this morning:

Dear Members,
As we continue to make timely decisions based on guidance of health agencies and our medical teams, and adjust our precautionary measures at Disney Vacation Club for the safety of our Members, Guests and Cast Members, I want to provide you with an important update.
In alignment with this guidance, Disney is temporarily closing its resort hotels at Walt Disney World Resort, including all Disney Vacation Club properties. The closure also includes Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. The closures become effective at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 20, and will extend through the end of the month. This will give Members and Guests the ability to make necessary travel arrangements or book alternative accommodations. At this time, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort will remain open.
We know that you have questions about your membership during these uncertain times. Please know that our teams at Disney Vacation Club are committed to assisting you and providing you with as much flexibility as possible with your future vacation plans. Disney Vacation Club Member Services will continue to assist you with reservation changes during their regular operating hours. As we anticipate high call volume in the days ahead, we encourage you to visit disneyvacationclub.com for general information and ask that you contact Member Services only if you need assistance with an existing reservation.
Regarding your reservations, I would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few important points in order to make the change process as smooth as possible. As we have shared, Disney Vacation Club has lifted the close-in reservation cancellation restrictions and will return any of your points back as vacation points or reservation points without placing them into holding. In the meantime, all points banking rules remain in place. While we understand the banking policy might create some frustration, please realize that this is in place to ensure that the membership as a whole avoids future inventory constraints.
Clearly COVID-19 is impacting us all in numerous ways – and I want to thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time. Our team at Disney Vacation Club is focused on serving you, our Member community, as we plan ahead for a return to normal operations.

With appreciation,
Terri Schultz

I finally connected via phone. Agent canceled my 78 point March ressie which had 18 banked points from 2018, 10 borrowed points from 2020 and 50 2019 points which were still bankable (3/31 banking deadline). When she canceled it, all my points went into holding which she said that is not right and she asked me what I wanted to do with the 2019 points. I asked for them all to be banked into 2020 and she said no problem but it will take a few days to show up.

If I look online right now, I see all my points still in holding. So, I am skeptical if all these points show up 'eventually' in 2020. How long do I give it before calling back?

Id give it a week to be fixed,
