Tips/Info for staying at the PPH - Concierge?

I have searched all day about PPH, lol, but I still have a few questions.
(by the way we are going mid Jan for 5 nights, 3 days in parks)

1) Is there internet access in the rooms at PPH? And is it included in the cost?

2) Are we allowed to use the pools at the other two Disneyland Hotels?

3) Any perks about being Concierge that we may not know, or any little tips?
We are excited about trying to eat a many "meals/snacks" from the lounge as possible. It seems like a big money saver for our group of 3 adults, 1 child and 1 toddler!

4) Anyone with an ECV stay here before with any advice/experiences to share?
My grandma will be with us and she has a mobility issue (cannot stand long, slow moving, stairs are hard on her, only has use of one arm...)
Will PPH be able to provide a seat to use in the bathtub? We don't want a accessible room because we do want the tub for the kids, but also want my grandma to be able to shower safely...

5) Anything else you can tell us about PPH concierge?

At Disneyland you cannot pool hop (unless your hotel's pool is closed).

This is from the PPH info on disneyland.com:

Club-Level Rooms & Service

Club-Level rooms offer exceptional service and a choice location within the hotel. Rooms offer either park views or verandas for fast access to the rooftop pool and fun of the waterslide, jacuzzi and Slurpin USA outdoor snack bar. Guests who stay on the club level of the hotel enjoy these enhanced amenities:

* Priority check-in
* Choice of poolside or park view rooms
* Staff available prior to and during your visit for reservations and vacation planning
* The exclusive Beach Comber Club lounge featuring complimentary:
o Continental breakfast
o Snacks including fresh fruit
o Coffee, tea, sodas and other beverages
o Evening wine and cheese reception
* Nightly turndown service
* Family movies

Also...

The following room amenities are available in all room types:

* 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds
* A twin day bed in the sitting room (except in rooms with disabled access)
* Flatscreen TVs with multi-device inputs
* Phones with voicemail
* Local calls
* In-room music feed for World of Color and fireworks
* Complimentary wireless and wired internet
* Irons, ironing boards, refrigerators and coffee makers
* Cribs
* Safety deposit boxes
* Disney Channel and ESPN
* Complimentary weekday newspaper

Since you don't want the actual HA room, I would be very careful talking about that with them (lest they misunderstand and put you down for the room that wouldn't suit your whole family), BUT I think you should call. Only they would know about the shower seat. If not, you might call one of the scooter-rental places, to see if they have anything like that for rent, or if there's a local store/rental place for a shower seat.

We stayed concierge at DLH back in '09, and it was one of our best trips because of the WATER we got! Our most hydrated trip ever. :) We couldn't/didn't eat a lot of the foods they had out (we are vegetarian and avoid anything with ingredients based on corn syrup, so quite a lot of their foods were not interesting to us), but the water was awesome. :)

For our large family, the water alone pays for the trip. They will give you up to two bottle per person in your party per day. We always stopped in to get water before heading out to the parks! They also have juice and sodas under the counter, just ask.

You can check out two videos at a time from the concierge lounge and change as many times as you want. Normally not a big deal, but when we went in May and my 8 year old got really sick (sickest she has ever been in her life) it was a great thing to have. We watched at least 4 movies a day!

Do you think we could ask for Toontown Morning Madness tickets? Or would that be asking too much?

Any other perks we can ask for?
(the deal I got works out as a room only booking, so we don't get all the package perks like luggage tags, etc...)

Toontown Morning Madness tickets only come with packages from Costco, etc. The lounge CMs won't have any way to get them. You will receive Rice Krispy treats the first night of your stay and turndown service with chocolate coins the entire duration of your stay. If you are expecting something super special, you may be disappointed. During one of our stays, the CM who was working the desk in the lounge struck up a conversation with my children about Vinylmations. She ended up writing them a ticket for a complimentary Vinylmation of their choice. That was wise on her part as we have purchased more Vinyls than I care to count since then!

They may possible be able to get you in to some of the restaurants when Disney Dining says that they are full. You can ask for an autographed picture to be delivered to your room. On another trip, dd lost a tooth and they had a special Tooth Fairy delivery to our room from Tinkerbell.

We have always tipped the serving CMs who are working in the lounge in the evenings when we order wine. The same CMs have been working in the lounge for years, and they do a great job! I think it helps as we have gotten extra great service on recent trips, including a heaping plate of chocolate covered strawberries to take with us when we weren't able to be in the lounge when they were scheduled to be brought out.

The food isn't spectacular, but it is convenient. They will bring you yogurt if you ask for it in the morning. Everyone we have encountered in the lounge has gone out of their way to make our trip special, but there is only so much that they are able to do.

Per day? Eek, they've changed. In '09 at DLH it was 2 per person every time we went into the lounge. Though they were smaller bottles.

We were there in October and they just asked us how many we needed. They didn't say anything about a limit.

I did not mean to imply a limit, but I reread it and that sure is what I said. Sorry about that, came out all wrong. Just saying we got two per person before going to the park (with 7 of us, more than that would be silly at a time). Sorry if I made it sound like a rule. They ask how many you want and give you whatever you request. We actually ended up with 16 each time because they were in 8 packs.

Oh thank goodness. :)

(little secret...we've booked concierge level for PPH for our February trip...it's why I got so concerned about that!)

I think that this is actually a perk for all onsite hotel guests, not just concierge/club level, but don't forget to use the following:

Need help planning your Disney days?
Take advantage of Disney's FREE Vacation Planning services. This exclusive benefit for Resort Hotel guests will add even more magic to your vacation! Let us reserve a magical theme-park tour for you, schedule your massage, take care of your dinner reservations and much more!

That's in my confirmation email, towards the bottom, and the email includes their email address and phone number.

We just wrapped up our first-ever Disney visit and checked out of the PPH earlier today. I couldn't have been more disappointed in the PPH and I'm SO glad I didn't upgrade to concierge (similar to you -- I was really debating whether the snacks & water would cut down on our food costs). The hotel is blah overall (none of the turn-down service or other nice little customer service perks mentioned above), the parking is very cumbersome, the elevators are a nightmare, the location is inconvenient and the coffee is, well....I can't even think about it :scared1: But you didn't ask about all that ;)
I think upgrading to concierge has a lot to do with the park hours during your visit. The park was only open till 8pm during our trip, and there's no way we would have wanted spend all that time trekking back to the hotel to eat or stock up on water vs just grabbing a quick counter snack (or something we brought ourselves), because 8 pm sneaks up on you really quickly! We drove & didn't have to worry about luggage constraints, so we brought tons of bottled water & snacks with us -- for less than the cost of an upgrade, and we didn't have to waste time going back to the hotel!

Have a great trip!!!

Turn down service is only offered to concierge or suite guests. It does not come with standard rooms. The CMs who do the turn down also had fun posing my children's stuffed animals. They looked forward to returning to the room every night to see what their animals were up to that day.

Not to be rude, but since I started this thread I think I can be a little blunt...
I was asking for tips/info on PPH CONCIERGE, which you said you didn't upgrade to, so not sure why you posted. Your post has an overall negative tone to it, and it is a bit of a downer, I'm really looking forward to our stay at PPH Concierge and didn't need to hear all that....wasn't even in line with what I was asking.

Our group is young children and elderly so we are most likely going to be going back to the hotel for a nap/rest in the afternoon/early evening, so the concierge option will benefit us for sure with the snacks/food throughout the day. (not to mention we are getting a great deal and the upgrade cost was minimal) :)

So thanks but no thanks for the negative thoughts on the hotel itself.
(I can always read the good/bad PPH thread if I want to know if I've made a mistake booking the PPH)
:littleangel:

I don't think the coffee is terrible. In the lounge, they also have two flavored syrups available for your coffee, too.

The other poster was correct in that the elevators can be a nightmare at times. If you are having a hard time catching one. We normally go up to get down. The cabana rooms on the third floor are available for concierge guests, but when we were there in October, they were doing quite a bit of construction around the pool, so you wouldn't really want to use the patio area outside of your room. If they are finished with the construction, you might want to consider a cabana room as it will give you a patio with a table and chairs. I can't remember if you said you had booked a view room or not.

When I booked they had premium view rooms available, so thats what we're getting :)

CrystalS, my apologies. I mis-read your original post, I thought you were asking whether or not to upgrade to concierge at PPH but now I see that it's what you've already booked. I should have read more carefully. I don't have an excuse other than to say we had just returned and I wasn't focusing well; I was still excited & bursting with opinions, and unfortunately spewed them out on the internet without careful consideration first.

I'm stinging a little from your rebuke, but you were right, my comments were indeed out of line for your thread and I did not mean to be a downer about your exciting trip. Sounds like the perks of concierge will be a real treat and I hope you have a great time!

I do have to say, though, that remembering that you have to go back to the resort to partake in the offerings IS a good one!

We stayed Club level at Universal in December, and we didn't take advantage of a lot of it, because it involved getting all the way back to the resort. And that got exhausting.

For someone who doesn't have napping kids, and who hasn't really thought about that, it's a good reminder. Sometimes it's not about what you *could* get, but what you WILL use!

We didn't think we'd get concierge again for the reasons jilly mentioned, but the price difference for us is relatively minimal, and hubby wanted the waters without having to get groceries, LOL.

We have stayed PPH concierge and really enjoyed it.

Just wanted to comment on your Grandma and the shower - our shower was over the bath, I am not sure if all the bathrooms are the same but you might want to check that out if there are mobility issues and she would have trouble stepping into the shower.

Enjoy your trip.

She should be able to step into the tub fine, it's mostly that she can't stand for long periods of time, and then there is the worry of slipping, with only the use of one arm, she wouldn't be able to catch herself very well. If she can have a seat then it won't be so much work for her to have a shower.

I did get a hold of PPH about the seat, they made a note on my reservation, but said to just mention it again at check in to make sure it has been brought up or that they haven't run out. :)

We stayed at PPH concierge level last November. I loved it! DBF was using a wheelchair due to a knee injury. I think we probably took two breaks a day.

We hit the lounge in the morning before the parks and loaded up on water and beverages to bring with us. DBF also had lots of coffee. I think the only drinks we paid for the whole trip were hot chocolates for WoC and F!. We also had breakfast there.

For our afternoon breaks we would borrow movies from the lounge. They have an amazing selection. I watched movies there that I haven't seen in years. They have a lot of them that haven't been released in a long time. We liked the hors d'oeuvres they had. DBF doesn't eat meat but they had a few things he could eat. We mostly loaded up on dessert. Those went back to parks and the room with us. Chocolate covered strawberries and mini pumpkin pies make the wait for WoC a little sweeter.

If you think you'll take full advantage of the lounge, then I would upgrade. I hope you enjoy!
