Tips from our Dream Cruise that ended yesterday.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely be sure to pick up a lanyard. I'll be at wdw before the cruise so I'll get one then. Do they sell special ones on the ship?
I don't remember seeing lanyards but I'd be surprised if they didn't have them.
 
Wow, I find it interesting that people are saying it's loud in the dining room. We've never noticed it on our 14 cruises. I think I can honestly say that I've never heard a baby cry. You would think that I'd be a bit sensitive to it since we don't cruise with kids. I'm sure it's different for different sailings but I find it interesting.

There are quite a few laynards on the ship. I can't remember if there were specific DCL ones, but I am fairly certain there were...i did see a cool Star Wars one this time...

There are DCL themed lanyards. I bought one because it had a pocket for other cards, etc., that I liked.
 

they do sell lanyards on the ship. However, if you didn't bring one and don't want to buy one, ask the people on deck 4 (Dream / Fantasy - not sure on other ships) at the Disney vacation Club or the DCL Reservation area. they usually have a bunch they give away for attending / going to their presentations and may have some spare they can hand out.

I hand mine out like candy. My wife and I generally bring our personal ones, and we get 2 from DVC and 2 more from CC and sometimes some other ones from one group or another.
 
A question about express check out: Can you leave your bags in your room when you go for breakfast? I have second seating and so would be going to the buffet instead of the MDR for breakfast.
 
We are scheduled for main dining. Do you think late dining would have been less chaotic and noisy?

Late doesn't help, we had it in September. The thing to keep in mind is that if parents let their children run screaming through the dining room (and I mean "run" and "scream" literally), the staff can't do anything but smile. And the idea that there are fewer kids on late is a myth, in my experience. Unfortunately the lack of a dinner buffet really hurts.
 
Just to avoid some confusion that may be created. There's Express Check Out and Express WALK off. Two different things.

Express Check Out - means your remaining bill will automatically be charged to your credit card on file and you'll have a bill waiting for you in your fish the morning you get off the ship. No need to go to guest services to settle up. If you have an alternate way you want to pay, i recommend doing it before the last night or morning of disembarkation day as the lines can be long.

Express Walk Off - is where you take your luggage off the ship yourself instead of having the crew take it off. These people are able to get off the ship first. You can still use this service and take a Disney Transfer to the airport - they will just put your luggage on the bus with you. You can also let the crew take your bags off and still get a Car Service like the OP did. You don't have to carry off your bags if you opt for a Car service. They will be waiting for you in the terminal. Express Walk off just saves you from having to locate them in the terminal building before you go through customs. And from having to put your bags out the night before if for some reason you don't want to do that.

And in 10 cruises and over 100 days at sea, both main and late dining, I've never noticed exceptional noise in the dining rooms. Perhaps some people are just more noise sensitive than others.
