I will not call you lose hers because you are not, you just have not figured out how to find those sneaky and elusive hosts. So I will post tips on how to catch up to them and maybe you can win also. So far I have caught the hosts a minimum of 12 times or more but I don't always get the prizes because I already have some of them. The reason I keep looking is because I want the room, the other pin I did not get, and the green lightcycle. When I get them I will quit hunting those hosts down. Hear that host's? Just give me those 3 prizes and you won't see me anymore. :rotfl2:

Now before I get started I want to explain some things so you don't get frustrated and call it quits after one dreams session. You might not see a host during a 2 or 3 hour time period, so don't give up hope. Some days like the weekends are busier and your chances go way down because there are so many people online. Your chances are better on days when there are less people online like later at night or during school hours for some kids.

If you have friends that win be happy for them, don't get mad at them for still trying to win. Everyone wants all the dreams prizes and they will keep looking until they get them all. Being mad at them for having more than one of the same prize is not their fault, the host dont list what prizes are being given out so you can sit this round out. Besides if they make them tradeable in the future your friend might gift you one, you never know. Now let's go hunt those hosts down!

1. Staying in 1 room, whether it be a public room or a private room, I have not had any luck at, some people have but not me. So I don't do it anymore. Besides the message VMK keeps sending out says not to stay and wait for hosts. Some of our friends have tried it while we went hunting and we have had better luck.

2. Have your friends team up with you and search the kingdom, me and my sister do this all the time. We can cover more area with each of us starting at different lands and working together. You can team up with as many friends as you want, but the more you team up with the lower your chances get of winning so try to keep it to a minimum. I usually start in Adventureland while my sister starts in Tomorrowland and we go from right to left so as she moves to the next land I am getting closer to where she just was. This usually keeps us in seperate areas during the dreams session.

3. Always use advance mode when hunting. Decide upon how you are going to work together that day by whether or not it is a slow or busy day. Here is what I mean by slow. If you click on Main Street and see alot of rooms open, it is not slow so you have to change your strategy. If you see maybe 3 or 4 rooms open, it is a slow day(this is usually during the week later at night or during school hours for some parts of the country). During slower days your chances improve while on busier days you might not get lucky at all.

Slow day strategy: Go to each room listed except the ones you can see are empty, you may have to visit 3 different tiki rooms(south, north, east, etc). For people who do not know how to tell how full a room is, three mickey heads is close to full, two mickeys is usually a few people or more, one mickey head is usually one person in the room, no mickeys means the room is empty, and red mickey heads means the room is filled and you are not getting in.

If a room is filled or you have to wait in queue, skip it. If the host is there you have already lost and won't win anyways, or there is alot of people hanging out with friends in the same room hoping the host will show up and you will be in line a long time. Don't get frustrated and say that is the winning room because it probably is'nt. I spent my time in full rooms and have never had the host show up, so I quit wasting my time in those rooms, I have more luck this way.

Don't go to empty rooms, you just make more rooms showing people in them. You may think this does'nt matter, but someone else may not be using advance mode and now they are sent to that room and camp out, so next time around you now have an extra room to check, slowing you and your friends down. The least amount of rooms you have to check the better your chances of winning.

Busy day strategy: On busier days we use a different strategy and we dont win as much, but we win more than we did using the slow day strategy. On busy days you may have some rooms showing 10 or more rooms(tiki room south, tiki room north, etc). We skip the empty and the rooms that show only one mickey head. You ask why, because the site is so busy and some people are not using advance mode so they are opening rooms just to go in them by themsleves. So you probably will be wasting your time going to these rooms to find one person in it.

Now some of the rooms may only show a single room with one mickey head, those are ok to check(talking about the rooms alot of people dont visit like thunder mountain which usually only has one open room). Just dont go to the ones like Main Street where it shows 12 open rooms and 4 of those have one mickey head, hit the busier rooms. The faster you can move the better your chances of catching a host.

4. Host show up in public rooms and they don't lock the room, like they do private rooms. This is why you hit the busiest rooms first. Everyone in that room is messaging their friends to come, so it fills up fast.

When I find a host I send a short message to whomever I am working with in hopes of them winning also. If you don't make it in and your friend wins, don't hold that against them, they are trying to help you win. It does not take long for the room to fill up and if the room was close to full, you probably won't make it in. Just be glad your friend got a prize and congratulate them. If they win the same prize they already had, that is not their fault(you never know the prize until the host tells you and by than they are already giving them out) like I said earlier maybe your friend will share with you what they win. If it is not tradeable they still have one they might can give you later if it becomes tradeable.

5. If you are searching with friends it seems like the more the better right? Wrong, this just adds more people you have to message at the time if you find the host. Like I said earlier the rooms fill up fast so the first person is maybe the only person who might make it in. It is very doubtful you will get a message to a second person and them get in, but you can try. If you are searching with more than 2 people decide who is going to message who and be fair about it.
I think 2 people can cover the area pretty good so try to stick to groups of 2. I know it sounds mean, but if you use 3 or more in your group and 2 of you win, the other people might get mad because you messaged the other person before them.

Now if you have several friends that already have won and one friend that has'nt, maybe you can all help them win by agreeing to all message that one person when you find the host. But that is up to you.

6. The dreaded host that is looking for something special. If you happen to enter a room with a host who says she is looking for something special, the prizes is usually the Dreams room. So far I have seen the host wait a few seconds looking around for something, so make sure you are not wearing the same clothes as everyone else. I have seen rooms with people all wearing flip hats waiting for the host, but if the host is looking for something special and it's not a flip hat, they all just lost and she will leave shortly. I was in a room the other night when the host said that and everyone started changing hats, it was funny. She even laughed about it.

I am not saying that the host was only look for hats, it could be shirts, pants , or shoes. Just try to be different and not dress alike. If a person in the room wins the room, the rest win a smaller prize usually. And a smaller prize is better than no prize.

That is about all I can think of that we do, so I hope this will help your chances of winning. I will tell you going from room to room like we do does slow down and sometimes freezes your computer and you may have to reboot once or twice during a 3 hour dreams session but this is how we have found the host so many times. And don't forget you may not win during everytime a dream team is out on the prowl, just keep the faith and keep hunting them down.

If anybody uses these tips and wins please post here what you won, I would like to see who all it helps. And I would like to see inside a dreams room without waiting 4 hours to get into 1 so invite me please.

Good luck to all and just remember have fun and don't lose friends over this host game. You not winning is not your friends fault it's the host's, blame them. Just kidding! :lmao:

Here's something else to add. During a 3 hour host event, listen to people who say the host is in a certain room. If you can prove it, mark down that room on a piece of paper. Hosts usually do not go back to the same room in a single event.

thanks for the tips!

I and my friends have always been happy for those that have won. After all, isn't everyone entitled to a "Dream" and it is exciting when a friend wins!

So far I am dreamless (like nightmare? LOL) If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, oh well. As long as I am having fun.

I'll be giving these tips a try when I can....so thanks again!

The only tip I would add: Dont forget your pins. You never know what they are looking for THIS time.

I guess I am just lucky then. I have seen host 8 times (got prizes but seen host and not got anything lots of other times) and not by using your methods. But it sounds like a great plan :)

I just wanted to say it was really nice of you to make the time to write this up and post.

I decided to try the fast room-hop technique, and I just ran into Host_Phinny. Got a fairy pin! This is the first time since the Dreams month began that I've run into a host in a public room.

Your welcome

Congrats!! We have a winner! That is pretty good since today so far has been real busy on VMK.

I usually start my days confused, but I am lost about what everyone is talking about::confused: .
And on top of all that I'm definition of dreaded word "newbie:confused3 ". It has been 15 years since WDW.

What is host and what are people doing looking for host? It all sounds very interesting. I'll be there for 10 days (arriving Sept 21 :cheer2: ) & only doing WDW--no rushing around.

Can anyone explain short version what is being talked about? If it's too drawn out, not to worry. :flower3: I appreciate the help though.
Good day to All. :thumbsup2

I was reading over your thread and I have a something to point out.. When I was in a Public Room and the Host came it did seem that the room had been locked, because as soon as she said what my prizes were the room filled and she left, so my theory is that they do in fact lock the rooms-

hey, thanks for putting all that time and effort to help all of us poor unfortunate sooooooooooooouls. : ) I for 1 appreciate it.

Hey what is the fast room-hop technique Lauralee was talking about?

The first time I saw Lily one boy got a room and the rest of us got nothing.
Honestly that is what ticked me off, I have waited and played every day and when I see her (twice) I got nothing both time. I just would have rather not see her at all then get my hopes up like that. Boy, I was jumping up and down in my chair screaming "I won" the let down was very bad both times.

A bit off topic:
Cat hang in in there! I know you have spent so many hours hoping for just one dream. Hugs! I see you on vmk for most of the events.

That is correct. They lock public rooms as well.

How long do you spend in each room? Just look to see if a host is in a room and move on if not?
