I know, I know you are gonna get wet on the water rides. DH and I avoided them on our last trip cuz I am not a fan of being wet. But for our next trip I really want to try some cuz I feel like we missed out. Anyone have tips for getting less wet? The best clothes to wear? Good water repellent gear? I don't really want to carry another set of clothes. Suggestions would be wonderful!:jumping2:

NO cotton! Wear quick dry water shorts and under armor type "dry" tees. Also DON'T wear socks and shoes. Use crocs or a sturdy water sandal. You don't get that wet on anything except Kali River anyway. If you really don't want to get wet at all, look for a waterproof, BREATHABLE jacket to carry in your pack. We always carry them for rain showers, no,no,no plastic ponchos! They fold up super small, and aren't sweaty and sticky! All this stuff can be bought at sporting goods/camping stores and websites. Happy planning!

I wore a Tankini with a skirt and sandles (keens). There was not a dry spot on me after the Kali River ride. That worked well for me.

On Splash Mountain sit in the back and you will not get as wet. The front is the most wet because the wave comes over the front when you drop down the mountain.

I sat in the last row, following these words of wisdom I got some where else, the truth is you never can tell. Luckily I hunched over DD, I was soaked from head to toe! Our log waited to go in the mountain until the other came down the mountain and my splash was from the front of that boat. If it were summer I would have etastic, but it was January during the the freakish cold front. Just be prepared where ever you are!

2nd this. SM had jets that are typically on during warmer weather. Seems to hit every 3rd boat with extra water. I've come off there completely dry and completely soaked sitting in the exact same seat each time (they let us stay on during MNSSHP last year). Depends if the jets are on and if they get ya!

Also, don't wear thin khaki shorts on water rides ;)

So, I had a 'brilliant' idea for us in two weeks. the thing that bothers me the most on the water rides is my shoes (i wear nike's) being full of water. My clothes will dry; and I plan on saving kali for the last ride of the day. But, i thought maybe we could carry small, lightweight flip flops in our backpack and change into those before the water rides, then put the shoes back on. i don't want to wear the flip flops all day, though, because they get uncomfortable. we always bring a backpack to the park anyway (we don't have kids, but we bring water bottles, camera, wallet, tylenol; and put the sunglasses in the bag during thr rides). what do you guys think? good idea or bad?

I used to do that until I started wear Croc flip flops. Now I wear them all day at AK. That's the only place I worry about truly getting soaked. However, I would suggest ALWAYS carrying flip flops then. We learned the hard way in a sudden and really bad thunder storm that MK floods really quickly- which means so do your Nikes!!!

I second this!! Croc Flip Flops are the BEST of both worlds!!! Lightweight, but more support and cushion - i can be on my feet all day in them with no problem. and i got my Disney ones at the Poly on sale last year for 25% off! They came to under $20! :thumbsup2

If you are planning on bringing a backpack or camera bag stick a kitchen sized trashbag in it. As we got on to Kali River Rapids we put the camera bag and my bag in the trashbag and then the trashbag into the center console. The center area does stay "drier" but my husband just got a new fancy dslr and I didn't want to take chances with his new toy. In the trash bag everything stayed nice and dry and we could toss the bag afterwards.

Enjoy your trip. Oh and we wore keen or merrell sandals but I saw lots of folks changing from sneakers to flip flops just for the ride. Good idea!

We do the same thing with Ziploc baggies. We put everything valuable in ziploc bags inside of our park bags before we ride water rides. With a DSLR, you can also make a "camera poncho" with a ziploc bag if you want to take pictures while you are on the ride.
