Tips for using vellum

I love using vellum too, I use for journalling on my computer, mounting my pictures to with a tearing effect. I have been away from scrapping for a few months and was just looking at my books trying to get back my creative juices and have notices that when the vellum is mounted to a darker color you can see where I used the vellum tape, so becareful there.

I also set my printer on its highest quality printing when printing my vellum.

Patty and Maggie, I love both your lay outs with the Matt and Kate using the vellum. They are beautiful. Didin't know Matt was such a little baker man.

Enjoy your Vellum it's lots of fun. Oh, I have even used the colored and decorative kinds to wallpaper with then mount my photos on bazzil it looks great, I think.

I hve tried several tapes, glues, etc. & I really like the CM clear photo splits :). I know someone else mentioned not liking them at all. I do use eyelets (these are the ones you hammer!) & brads & stickers, etc.

I need to try more vellum! thanks for the hint about setting the printer to transparency - maybe that is why the only time I tried it in the printer, it smeared.

I bought the generic pack of "translucent paper" at Joann's, and it works just as well as vellum by the sheet.

Stampin' Up also sells a package of vellum, in different patterns too.

I adhere quotes by running them through my X. Put a nice layer of adhesive down on the whole thing. I have used Scotch vellum tape but it always seems to show through. I also use eyelets when appropriate, and that always turns out nice.

Has anyone used their chalk on vellum? At the last crop I went to she would tear her vellum and then chalk the edges it really was very pretty.

I have used chalk on the edges of torn vellum or ink on cut edges and love the effect. I have also used chalk lightly all over to get a colour I couldn't find. I really like the look. I love to journal on vellum.

Thanks :jester: for all these tips,,,I purchased my first package at Joann's (75 for $9.99) and as soon as I get my new printer up and running - I am going to give this a try.
