The DDP lets you explore places you would never normally go. There's something in my upbringing that makes me balk at spending $26 on a pasta plate or a baked 1/2 chicken plate, esp. at a place like Disney. The DDP let my DW and I try out places and foods without having to worry about the cost. We did not have to worry about whether or not the appetizer was worth $6.95 or $9.95 or would I like it if I got it. (I liked them all, BTW, DW not so much, but I forced myself to eat hers "Oh, Dear, let me try it." Gobble, Gobble. The fried calamari at Wolfgang's it delish and an awesome amount
On previous visits we played it safe, Hamburgers, etc. for lunch, with the meal plan we had Shawarma Sandwiches at Tangarine in Epcot, etc. Granted, our kids are grown, but old habits die hard.
I've had 4 and 5 star dining around the country and I've always had a little voice saying "Your family could eat for a week on what you're spending on this meal." I did not hear that voice while at Disney.
Go where you want, order what you want and ENJOY.
