We are taking our very first Disney Cruise and going to Alaska - I'm driving, to let my kids see the country, which is a 36 hour trip. We have three really good kids - and good travelers - we took a 30 hour trip to California two years ago with a newborn and it was a fantastic trip. Now the newborn is two and she's great in the car and a really good little girl, but I want to cover all bases.

We have an iPad strapped to the headrest, which currently has Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes, but we're going to update it and put fresh episodes, plus Sofia and Doc (and hopefully Frozen, if there's enough memory for it). The novelty of all of those new episodes will get us through a good chunk of the trip. I've also got two sets of brand new board books (24 mini-books, total) which means I'll be able to give her those, one at a time, whenever she starts getting fussy. Are there any other tips from those of you who travel with toddlers? Some ideas that won't take up a lot of room in the luggage, since it will be a long trip as it is.

I second the magnetic drawing boards. Also stickers and snacks. We also have these magnetic board books with moveable magnetic pieces which the kids love.

Great ideas, thanks! We actually have a magnetic board and she loves it, but it never occurred to me to bring it. I might look into buying her a new one, just so it's even more of a special treat (this one has been through all three kids and has seen better days :) ).

Pinterest has a ton of ideas! My favorite was an I spy bag or pouch. I'm sure you could google it. I'm giving it a try with my twin two year old boys this October on our trip to disney. Happy travels!

the one thing I would add is watch crayons in car. a lost piece that was not found until after a lunch stop in a carseat meant buying a new one on a trip, of course not a planned on buy. we found the crayon after the second outfit change at the dinner stop to find the melted crayon piece in the padding of seat

Our kids lover the magnetic drawing boards, and stickers. Our last road trip, pretty sure Cars was watched ten times.....oy.
