Wow... I can't believe I'm writing this. We are already planning baby's first Disney trip and I'm not due until December :rolleyes1 . We actually had this trip in the works and the timing, I think, is perfect. We are planning on late October. Since this is our first I have no clue what this trip will hold. I assume that we go at baby's pace... which is fine. We normally only do the parks for a few short hours at a stretch and take plenty of breaks. We much prefer the leisure route vs. commando touring anyway.

I'm clueless with anything else. We are hoping to get baby's first haircut on Main Street (although if baby takes after my husband, we will need to get the haircut right out the womb :rotfl: ).

We will also hopefully have my niece, who will be 2 1/2 at the time. Any tips, advice, thoughts?

ETA: We will be staying at AKL.

Congratulations on the new baby!! We took our youngest DD to Disney when she was 10 mos old. It is a great age to take them. It was a very easy trip for us. She would ride in the stroller or we would carry her in the front pack and she was quite content with everything going on around her. I was still nursing her so we didnt have bottles or cups to fool with (she wouldnt take them anyway). I just threw a few jars of baby food in the diaper bag and she was good to go. I do remember it being hotter that I would have thought, but it was the first of Oct.- maybe it is cooler later? The poor little thing did look quite miserable at times with her hair wringing wet, but she survived. I would take breaks if you can and use the baby care stations to cool off and rest. Have a great time with your baby. Taking on a 2 1/2 year old at the same time might be more of a challenge since you wouldnt be used to having 2 kids full time. We are planning on taking our newest DD in Jan when she will be 3 1/2 mos. I cant wait either!!

Congratulations!!!! We just took DD in February and she was almost 11 months. It was our best trip ever :goodvibes It was definitely a different type of trip but that was expected. We really just went at her pace. We would get up in the morning and get going and stay in the parks until around 2 and then go back to the hotel for play/nap time. We would then spend a few hours relaxing and head back out for dinner and the parks later in the evening. We laugh still because the best sleep we ever got since DD was born was at the Poly :rotfl: She was so exhausted by the end of the day that she would go right to sleep and continue until around 7 the next morning. We also took baby food and when there wasn't something she wanted in the park, we would just open a jar of food and it worked great. I do recommend taking a baby carrier along with your stroller. The strollers always have to be parked outside the attractions and if you're waiting in line for any amount of time, a little one can get very heavy! She usually isn't a napper in her stroller but she did on this trip because she would be so exhausted. We also had her first haircut on at the MK and it was GREAT!!!! A wonderful memory we will have forever. She received her first pair of pink Mickey ears with "My First Haircut" embroidered on the back and a certificate for having her first haircut at the MK. So sweet  Well, I've rattled on more than planned. Please ask if you have more questions. I know a lot of people thought I was crazy going to WDW with an 11 month old but I would not have done it any other way!

We took our 1-year old to Disney for the first time last spring and he loved it! The baby care centers are great for warming bottles/nursing-they also have baby food and formula and tons of stuff in case you run out of anything. They have one in each park. We also did a few character meals-he was afraid of Mickey and Donald, but he liked Pooh, Tigger, Chip & Dale, and for some reason Stitch. :) Have fun!

Congratulations!! What wonderful things you are planning for... a baby and WDW.

A baby sling or carrier is a must for when the stroller is parked (lines, on rides, buses, etc). Maclaren strollers are perfect for WDW and many other places -- wish I had got one when mine were babies!! Register or purchase one and it will last you THROUGH toddlerhood and many, many more trips to WDW. And you won't have to start yet another stroller thread when the time comes!!

Also, if flying, feed baby a bottle or nurse during take off/landing to help w/ear pressure.

You can pack a suitcase w/diapers and baby stuff or ship a box of stuff to yourself at your resort. If you go the suitcase route, you will have an empty suitcase for souveniers to bring home. Bring enough diapers as they are very expensive in the world, although you can buy a few in the baby care centers in each park to get you by in a pinch.

Don't listen to people who ask why you are bringing baby (or even a 2 yo for that matter) since they won't remember. You will remember the beginning of many wonderful trips to WDW.

Joyful planning!

Thanks everyone!!!

FTR... we are hoping my niece will come but so will her mother and father so we won't actually be taking care of her.
