i would love to know any tips people have for having a better experience on certain rides!

the only one i can think of to offer, is to remind people who are wearing shoes and socks (or who just don't want their feet wet regardless of what shoes they are wearing) on grizzly river run to keep their feet up on the center console. the water really pools at the bottom sometimes, and walking around with soaking wet socks is really, really uncomfortable (and causes blisters!). :)

Rides like Alice in Wonderland. I found out the hardway that if your riding with a little one who's head doesnt go over the safety bar keep your arm across the bar by the little ones face. We rode Alice for the first time with my 16 month old daughter. I guess you can't hold small children in the front car according to the CM, when we were waiting to get off the ride the car jerked fast and my daughter hit her face on the bar. So make sure you put your hand in front of the bar if your little one is not on your lap!

Another thing to do for GRR is to carry a small plastic wastepaper basket liner with you. They're so thin and small they only take up an inch of space in your backpack, but you can slip that puppy over your feet when you get on, and save yourself some soaked socks!

I like the "goat trick" for BTMRR. When you get to the top of the incline where you see a goat chewing on a stick of dynamite, you're supposed to keep your eyes on it as you go around the sharp bend, for a more intense effect. I found it works better when you're near the back of the train.

On rides like Tower of Terror and Indy I like to not only put my arms up but also pull your legs up so your feet don't touch the ground. If you are familiar with the rides you can just do it when the elevator drops or the truck lunges... it really makes both rides much more fun!

On Indy it throws you around alot more and on ToT during the drops it really makes you feel like you are falling, not just being pulled down... so much fun!

If you're wearing slip-on sandals, clogs or flip-flops on Soarin' Over CA, just take them off and leave them where your feet are. You'll land right where you started and you'll be able to pick them back up again! The same works for the Orange Stinger.

Don't go on the Haunted Mansion if you are wet. It's FREEZING in there! But it is great when you are starting to feel tired and hot, I believe the ride is 10 minutes long, or at least it feels that way.

disney-inspired is right. It is cold inside the haunted masion. They have the AC full blast. My fav. ride the Pirates of the Carribean.

When riding Splash, if you don't want to get wet, DO NOT sit at the front, you will get soaked. However, I've sat in the middle and front of splash and I absolutely LOVED sitting up front. The view is awesome! No one's head is obstructing your view, so the drop is unbelieveable!

This is really great advice. I generally just wear open shoes anyways but if I didn't, I would pick a certain day to do the water rides so that I could plan accordingly as to what I would wear on my feet.

GRR is just so unpredictable...I love it. I've went on the ride and got 2 drops of water on me and then I've been on it again and got soaked!

I'm going to try this on ToT!! sounds like fun!!!

Also try to sit on the first row, no feet will be hanging over covering some of the view!!!

Also, ride Splash BEFORE Big Thunder. That way, if you get a little wet on Splash, you can "blow dry" while on Big Thunder Mountain.

On the other hand, with Soarin', if you're like me and sometimes need to "check in" that you're not REALLY flying, that you're not REALLY that high, and that you're not moving that much, having the feet up above can really really HELP you. I can't imagine being in the top and not having the ability to take myself "out" of the ride mentally by looking at the feet, and side to side to make sure there are still people around me.

I just posted something similar about Nemo. Maybe there's something wrong with me. :rotfl:

If you have a strong back (strong as in you don't get hurt, not strong as in you can lift a million pounds), I find that going with the motion of the car on Indy is much better than holding yourself stiff. I sit up with my hips and feet really settled on the seat and floor, and just let the ride move me around. Not so I'm slamming into people, but so I go side to side and forward and backward. I laugh all the way through the ride, it's so fun!

But don't do that if you are easily hurt, spinally. On the other hand, if it already hurts you and you're a hold-on-for-dear-life type on Indy, consider doing it the loosey goosey way; maybe it'll be better for you. (or maybe not, I make no promises and am not responsible for anything that happens!!!)

I kind of had to do this on Soarin', too-- look at the feet! I was getting a little bit of motion sickness. Or sometimes I looked off to the side at my fellow riders, just for a second or two, to get my bearings back.

No, you're not weird, at all - I do the same thing! I try to be "brave" and go on everything, but my mind is what plays tricks on me and makes me more anxious than I actually should be. I scared myself more standing in line for California Screamin' than actually being on the ride. I'm good at psyching myself out, but in the bad way, not the good way. And sometimes I just have to fake that I'm having fun (yelling "Whoo! Yeah!!") when I'm actually terrified and ready to pass out.

You're not weird Molly. I like to sit in the second row of the second group on Soarin' because I've got people above, below and surrounding me. LOL It really helps me keep my bearings. And I ride Indy the same way you do....LOL I hold on sometimes to the bar in front but usually just use my legs/feet to brace myself and love it the whole time. :)

If you are on the top row of Soarin' you can just lean slightly out and look up and see the top of the screen. I do that on accident sometimes and it ruins the moment for me. So I imagine you can do that for a reality check if you need one. :)

I'm such a wimp--the one and only time I've ridden Indy I was in the front row on the far right--holding on for dear life. I really felt like I was going to get flung out of the jeep!

On Big Thunder, be sure to hang on to your hats and glasses, 'cuz ... well, you know. ;)

Okay, on BTMRR, when you see the Goat, keep your eyes on it for as long as you can!! Trust me on this Ladies and Gents, it is wild. For those of you faint of heart, dont look at the goat. It may be too much. Also, if you are a thrill seeker, ask for the back row. Back row and goat trick its mind blowing!
