I would love to hear your tips for products that promote healthy, shiny hair. Also, which vitamins are good for hair? My DD12 has long hair but it doesn't really have that nice shine. She does swim but not a lot...maybe once a week. Anybody got advice? Thanks!

I love Joico KPAK - especially the shampoo. I feel that it strengthens the hair.

I also like VO5 Detangle and Shine leave in. I used to buy the D and S at Target in the States when I'm down but couldn't find it last time. So if anyone knows where I can find it let me know.

I've heard that coconut oil on the hair is great for shine. But I imagine that it only works well on thick hair. :confused3 Mine is fine.

Essential Fatty Acids - fish oil etc are great for hair.

Someone will chime in with swimming but I think they have products that remove chemical build up.

may sound odd but crack a egg on her head. It gives my hair shine. I learned this by accident when one of my students smashed a "Hard boiled" egg that wasnt on my head.

I was always told the egg thing does help I also heard beer could help too. ( Not drinking it) but my mother told me avocado and mayo for some reason. I also know that if you shower with cold water that could help, I heard that hot water could really mess up your hair.

I add a few Tbls cider vinegar to a large plastic tumbler of cool water, and I do my final rinse with that. It strips the soap and build up from your hair and makes it shiny (the vinegar smell goes away after I dry my hair).

The last time I went to get my hair cut my stylist said your hair is so shiny, have you been eating a lot of dairy products? I said yes because at the time I was a vegetarian so I was eating a lot of dairy. You could try it I wouldn't recommend dairy foods with high fat but low fat milk and chesse are good choices.

You can try the egg after a wash, that should help with the shine, but first get all the chemicals out of her hair. If she swims, even once a week, she still has the chemicals in her hair. For my daughters, regular shampoo was not helping. My daughters and i use different slaons and both salons recommend Paul Mitchell's Shampoo three. We have been using it for years in the summer and it definatley does get rid of the chemicals form the pool.

One method is getting used tea bags soaking them in water and squeezing the tea over your hair before you shampoo it.

My niece uses Pantene...some kind of hydrating shampoo and her hair is very shiny and nice. And she has a thick head of hair, so you would probably expect it to go toward drier and frizzy.

I remember my grandmother using that too. I think most older remedies work best. ::yes::

Olive oil does the trick for my thick unruly hair!! Just leave it in as long as you can, rinse and wash. It's a great once a month treatment!

Before swimming, rinse your hair and put some conditioner in it, and leave it in. It keeps your hair from soaking up the chlorine from the pool.
