Tips for Pin Trading Night

So it just so happens that my trip to WDW is at the same time as a Pin trading night. I'm super excited because I've either just missed it by a day or they didn't have it the month of my trip in the past. So 10/10/10 I will be there... but I don't know what to expect. I'm still really new to the hobby and don't have a huge collection of traders. The traders I do have a pretty common and I'm sure that most people aren't really looking for them.

Does anyone have any tips on what I'll need to have a good time at the PTN? Do I need to start buying sale pins on Disney Shopping in preparation of my trip? I'd say I have about 15 traders now but like I said nothing is rare.

Thanks for the help!

The best advice I can give is just have a great time and even though you think your pins might not trade well and etc, don't let others get you down if they don't want to trade with you. I mean you never know what some people are looking for and if you don't say are you intrested in this pin because they mignt not have it, you won't know what their answer might be.

I agree with the previous poster. We were down for the June PTN with family friends who just "dabble" in collecting. They managed to trade for some of the "letter" pins that they were looking for (they were trying to spell out each child's name). They had nothing really to trade except common lanyard pins and managed to trade for every pin they wanted/needed.

There were times when they had to trade 2 pins to get one, but it is possible to trade.

When I go to an event I bring traders to trade with the kids. They are park traders that will only go on a lanyard anyway, so I put them out for the kidlets. Then I have some decent traders that the people wanting equals the people trading on pin pics and I normally trade some of those. & then I bring about 30 "Holy Grail" pins. Holy grails are pins that people want and not many people are trading them. For example, I won some pins at a pin event a few years ago. They are Artist Proof and people want them. I have pins that I and 2 other people are trading and 53 people want them. Those pins are set aside for the holy grails that I want and can't find :lmao:Last year I actually traded and got one of my holy grails. It cost me two very hard to find pins, but I was still pleased as punch that I got a pin off of my holy grail list. So bring what you have, you never know. A pin you don't want might be a pins someone else really wants. If you want to know the number of people trading vs wanting, check out PinPics. Have fun and see you on 10/10. Penny:hippie:
