**I KNOW that this is a topic that has become Controversial. So please do NOT post if you are going to tell me how HORRIBLE it is to pack water in my luggage or that I am ONLY going to Florida and they have water there. I am just looking to hear from people who do and have packed water to answer my questions**

We just packed our suitcase that will be carrying our water bottles and snacks and breakfast foods. I used two large disney beach towels. I packed 3 bottles per plastic ziploc gallon bags. I piled 8 bags of water and wrapped the beach towels around them. Then I put our Chex Mix, Combos, Goldfish into tupperware containers (taped them closed). A box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, box of Pop Tarts and a box of Granola Bars. Does this sound ok? I am trying to pack them so that we dont have to worry about leaks.

The easiest and simplest tip is don't. There are many options to get water in Disney World, from the Hess Station, Delivery, in resort stores/shops, etc that it isn't worth the risk, inconvenience, etc. for many people.

Are you flying? Have you weighed your bag? Airlines will charge fees for bags over 50 pounds.

If your flying won't that put you over to an over weight fee? so would be cheaper to call garden grocer and have them deliver to resort. I used to send my own box of water but got so cheaper to just have delivered. and no they do not sell 24 packs in the resort stores just single bottles. I understand the bottled water as if one ever gets sick on water they will also become a believer... Have tried the filtration units and just not found one that takes out the bad taste we have here in our tap water. :cool1:

Garden Grocer has a minimum purchase, I dont think they will deliver just water.

We arent over our weight limit with our bag...and I only paid 2.77 for the 24 pack of water..and no baggage fees...I have read that many people have done this..I just want to make sure I am packing it correctly.

I agree the Hess station is very easy to buy water from and its very cheap!
Even without a rental car its only across the street from DTD !
Last time I was there they sold Large bottles of Zephyrhills Spring Water which tastes great ! Not like that locally filtered tap water from Dasani :laughing::laughing:

You can get a case of water delivered for about $7 from Costco.

If you're going to pack them, please double (or better yet, triple) bag them.

I know where you are coming from here. I have tried in the past to bring gallons of vodka in luggage and all but 1 container broke. The problem is if you pack a large volume of any liquid or "suspicious" items in your luggage, the TSA in America will open your luggage to inspect its contents (while you are not present). They usually don't put things back in your luggage the same way you did. We did have one container that did not break it was made of glass and was placed in 2 huge double zip lock bags then wrapped in a towel and then placed perfectly inside clothes in the middle of the luggage. Only one glass container per luggage. The others broke and leaked, my guess is TSA did not bother open the last luggage because they open the other 2 and realized they each contained the same thing.

What I learned from this embarrasing experience was that there were planty of new shops near that sold things that were close to what we wanted to bring from home. I know how you feel and you are going to try anyway. I hope my advice helps, I would not trust plastic because it does not hold up to being crushed as well as thick glass did (for me anyhow). You will find different brand of bottled water in florida, do not fear, it is actually poland springs brand that you enjoy so much in massachusetts. (poland spring is actually tap water pumped from maine and new england and then bottled elsewhere). Google may also provide you with more valuable information. Good Luck!

Was just thinking the same thing! The way luggage is stored on top of each other in the planes it's easy for it to get squashed and the lst thing you would want to do when you get to the resort is have to air out all your wet belongings!

I know you only want to hear about taking water on the plane, but have you thought about buying filtered water bottles? They are so much easier to take and you can get it refilled at any WDW food stand, restaurant, or water fountain. Walgreen's has the Brita water bottle, Target the Bobble with different colored tops, and Meijer has one from Rubbermaid. Have a great trip. ºoº

You can also ship a package to your resort. We have done this on numerous occasions due to having a child in diapers. We've sent water, wipes, diapers and food items. All we do is inform the front desk of our package and bell services brings it to us.

The best answer is not too......Other people have the right NOT to get their clothes wet just becuase you want too carry water.

I agree with this-I once wrapped some jars of special Bar-b-q sauce(like wrapped with a towel) for a trip with my clothes-they inspected it-completely unwrapped it and just had the loose bottles on my clothes-i was SO lucky they didnt break.
I would NOT do this!

There is a hess station RIGHT at the turn to the Swan

Does your airline charge for baggage? If you did not bring water, would you have one fewer suitcase and therefore pay one fewer fee?

Or if you did not bring water, would an extra suitcase for souvenirs fit inside one of the other suitcases saving one fee on the way down?

I have taken water many times and I packed it similar to you. I put 3 bottles in a ziploc and made sure the bag was surrounded by soft things. We've never had a problem with the bottles breaking.

Have a great trip.

I would double ziploc the water just to be safe. Otherwise it should be ok.

The TSA will probably open and search your bag. They've searched mine every time I bring 5 hour energy drinks and when I don't bring them the bag isn't searched so I think it's the liquid that triggered the search.

Have a safe flight.

A case of water is $5.99 at the Hess gas station across the street from DTD. That the DTD bus to the 2 nd bus stop in DTD get off and walk across the street. Its that simple.

Check out this thread there are pictures taken inside the Hess station so you wil have an idea what they carry and how much it is. there is also a detailed map of where the DTD Hess station is.
