Hi! Thanks for your help. We will be celebrating my daughter's 8th birthday at Disneyland this May. I am looking for ideas to make this extra special for her. Of course, any day at Disney is special - I just have a feeling this will be the last time while she still *believes* in everything. We have been to Disney World once, never to Disneyland.

Do you have any extra special tips to share? She is totally in love with all things Princess and Peter Pan.

Thank you in advance for your help, I appreciate it so much!! :goodvibes

If you are staying onsite, you can ask for balloons and signed character photos for your daughter. If you're not staying onsite, there are plenty of other special things to do.

Be sure to get a free birthday button. You can get these at guest services, City Hall, the info booth, even a lot of the stores or from a roving CM carrying maps. If your daughter wears the button, she is likely to get a lot of "Happy Birthdays" from the CMs and even other park guests.

Ask at the info booth if and when Peter Pan will be out and try to be in the right place at the right time.

You might want to consider a trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique if you're looking to spend a bit of money and your daughter would enjoy a princess makeover. Another princess favorite is the breakfast or lunch at Ariel's Grotto in DCA.

You may want to have a special birthday card for your daughter that she can get signed by all the characters she meets in the parks or at meals.

If you book any sit-down meals, be sure to mention that it's for your daughter's birthday. Mention it again when checking in. You might, certainly not guaranteed, get a special birthday treat or at least acknowledgement from the server.

Thank you so much for your response! I really appreciate all of your tips. I have one question:

We are staying onsite - how do I ask for balloons or a signed character photo?

Thanks again!

You can contact Vacation Planning. I don't have a phone number, but I used e-mail:
vacationplanning@disneyonline.com

It might take a couple days for them to respond. You can also use vacation planning to set up dining reservations.

When you check in you can ask for a birthday button and "usually" not always they will give you the balloons and or picture but again not always. I have gotten it at PP but not at DLH and just the pic at GRAND. But another REALLY fun thing again if you don't mind spending a little money is the gift baskets.

They have them waiting in the room and you can get a pre-made one or have one special made.

They have an "in room" celebration which I did last year and it was expensive but SO fun and SO worth it. But there are cheapers baskets you can get and I bet she would love it and be so surprised.

Also not sure if they still do the birthday cake/party at Plaza but they used to do it and it is fairly cheap. The kid gets to make a little cake and you get punch and they have a little party and you can take a pic with Minnie.

Also certain restaurants you can special order cakes.

I agree with the pp that call vacation planning. They are the ones who do the baskets and I believe the cakes and they can give you ideas. Have fun!! :)

Hello!! I went a few years back for a friend's birthday and looked at doing an in-room celebration...Disney e-mailed me back very promptly, and I saved the information. :) Hope this helps!

WOW! Thank you all SO much, I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the wonderful information you shared. THANK YOU!

We were there last year during my daughter's birthday and she really got alot of attention! We stayed onsite at PPH and when checking in they gave my daughter a birthday button. I believe I mentioned her birthday when calling to make my reservations with WDTC, so I think they already had the note on file. (if they don't, I'd be sure to mention your daughters birthday at check in) They sent balloons and a signed Mickey photo to our room. In the parks every cast member greeted her when getting on rides with "Happy Birthday, Princess", which she loved! On the Zepher ride, the CM announced it to everyone over the intercom during her safety/rules talk they do before the ride starts (and the riders all cheered, very cool). We ate that night back at the PCH Grill at the hotel and the magic continued with lots of attention from our server and a mickey shaped brownie with sprinkles and sauces on it, complimentary, and the cast members all gathered and sang a "disney" rendition of Happy Birthday. It truly made her feel special!

We booked the "My Disneyland Birthday Party" with Mickey and Minnie at the Plaza Inn. I can't say if it's good or not because our trip isn't for another three weeks (I can let you know after), but we each get to decorate our own personal cake, which sounds like fun. It's $17/person.

I have emailed vacation planning but have not received a response. Does anyone know if you can get custom items in baskets? My son is a huge fan of pins and vinylmations. We dont't own any yet so a birthday basket with a selection would be wonderful.
