tips for Hoop De Doo

I booked this awhile ago but I'm a little worried. I think my 4.5 year old will love it but I'm a little worried about my 2.5 year old. He doesn't sit well at restaurants so I have a feeling that one of us adults will be taking him outside at some point to let him walk around. I am hoping that the music will distract him and will sit for longer than 10 minutes.

Best advice -- book now so you'll have front row (and don't use DDP -- spring for the best seats). It's hard to enjoy the show while seated at the back, IMO.

I agree completely about the second tier. However, the third tier (the cheap seats) are great.

They're on a balcony, so you can see the stage with nothing blocking you. You may not get picked to be on stage, but the actors do come up and talk to you. (We had a fairly long conversation with 6 Bits during the intermission.) The waitstaff up there is totally attentive, and it was a fantastic experience.

This is coming from a guy who, once we discovered we were in the balcony, decided that the evening was going to be a disaster. Under more normal circumstances, I hate balconies. I always wind up watching the light patterns on the floor. I lost the entire second act of an opera once, wondering why a part of the floor hadn't been swept.

If you don't want to spring for the expensive seats, then go cheap! Definitely the way to go.

Curious about the Wishes cruise after HDDR - the original post said it was a group of 20, we have a group of 16 and I know the boats only hold 12 - was it hard reserving 2 boats (I assume you had 2) for the same time/day? Thanks.

Yes, we had 2 boats. I called at exactly 90 days out at 7am and didn't have a problem at all. They just asked me where I wanted to be picked up and I said Ft. Wilderness. The boats were actually from the WL marina and they sent them over. We held them with my cc, but then paid the drivers when they arrived so that we could divide the cost. Hope that helps!

I am going to Hoop Dee for the first time next week. We used the dining plan. Is there anyway to "upgrade" my seats? Are they assigned based on when you first buy them? When you first pick up the tickets? Here's hoping for some pixie dust!

You can not upgrade, but you can rebook and ask for tier one. You'll have to pay the higher price. They are assigned about 48 hours before the performance by who ordered first. We used the package for a 9:30 show in Sept and think we'll be on the main floor. Last year during Sept,there were only about 15 tables booked, but this year they won't be performing on Tues and Wed, so we took Sat, so who knows how both of those could affect bookings.

This would be a good night for everyone to wear matching shirts. They take a group picture outside Pioneer Hall before the show begins.

I can't offer any advice about seating since the two times we've been there we seated in the seat directly next to the piano up against the stage. We're going again in August (thanks to free DDP) and have Tier 2 seating.
