We usually go to Disney in January. I am due on 10/01 and will be off through the end of December. We are going to go back at the end of Nov and the baby will be 6-8 weeks old.

I will be breastfeeding and I used a sling with my 2nd daughter.

Any other suggestions or ideas!

TIA!

am watching this post CLOSELY for responses...

I am trying to convince DH that we NOT cancel our reservation to go Sept '09 w/ DD due late June '09 (DD 4.5 and DD 2.5 are already asking "how many days til september?" since we have gone the past few yrs...in Sept).

I recall when DD 2.5 was only 14m that it was MUCH more difficult then other yrs...with her not yet walking (and refusing to ride in stroller but weighing in at hefty 26lbs) and touching everything (I am germ freak!) and needing small or mushy foods ect. And it really has me thinking that maybe 3m old would be EASIER than 14m old...? Someone PLEASE tell me it would be, so I can show DH the post and use it as "evidence" that I am not crazy.

I am literally getting teary-eyed at the thought of telling DD 2.5 and DD 4.5 that we can't go this year (hmmm, maybe it's also pregnancy hormones too:).

SUPER EASY! My DD turned 8 weeks the first time she went. I was also nursing. I took the Graco w/ the carseat so when she was sleeping, I could just leave her in that. We could bring the carseat easily into restaurants, etc. to put her in. I would definately bring a sling or something to carry the baby in too. I nursed wherever, I never used the baby care centers - I just was never in the right spot. I would just find a bench somewhere and feed her. She enjoyed it a lot too - enjoyed looking around at everything. She never got sick, we used hand santizer before we touched her, so she never got 'germy'. Now, at 2 1/2 is a different story. Oh, and I also always changed her in the stroller, that way I didn't have to clean off the baby changing station (I'm a little nervous of germs if you can't tell...).

I say go for it. We have been 2 times since the first time, and it was honestly the easiest when she was 8 weeks. Oh, and for napping, we didn't have to worry about going back to the room or anything! She just slept anywhere. We just went in Jan and had to go back to the room every day for naps, no more sleeping in the stroller for her!

AND, free on the airplane. Just beware, not all airplanes have baby changing tables.

Giod BLESS YOU, adventure woman!!!! more stories like this please?????:)

We went when DS#2 was 9 weeks (DS#1 was 2.75y). Like adventure_woman, we did take his carseat (our Sit n Stand stroller accomodates a car seat), mostly for the convenience of knowing we had a clean, safe place for him to sit in the restaurants while also keeping my hands free. I know many folks have said that they have taken their strollers into restaurants, but being one of the people who has had to navigate around said strollers while trying to carry a tray full of food, I *personally* found it much easier to leave the stroller outside and just carry the car seat in...much less clutter inside the restaurant IMO. That said, most of the time I wore him in my Sleepy Wrap (similar to the Moby) and just bf'd on the go, whether it was on a quiet bench or just latched him on while in the wrap :thumbsup2

We really didn't have any trouble with him at this age - he wasn't putting his hands anywhere germy, napped most of the day away, and as for food...as long as I had my breasts with me (and I always did :lmao: ), we were good to go. It was a great trip!

Congratulations!!! We brought our daughter when she was only 3 months old - I was so worried, but I have to tell ya that it was the easiest thing in the world for us. She was so good and slept almost the whole flight (six hours for us!). In the parks we brought a stroller frame - ours was a babytrend one and her carseat. She was totally content to just chill out and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park. We were able to take her on quite a few rides, like Winnie the Pooh, and other dark rides and boat rides. And the best thing of all was the BABY SWAP - this was two years ago, so its possible it's changed but when we went it was wonderful because my nieces could basically go on the rides twice in a row when we got the baby swap - they would go on the ride and then get back in the fastpass line with the baby swap person. Good deal!

Tips: Bring a fan for the stoller or a personal one and use the baby centers, especially if you are breastfeeding, they are very calming and a nice break from the parks. They also have lots of baby supplies if you forgot something.

I thought this was a fantastic time to take a baby if you have to take a baby - I am taking a 1 year old in October and I am a lot more nervous about that - he'll be mobile!! :scared1:

DD is 7 weeks old in this pic. We did 9 days for our other DD's 5th birthday. We had a blast and the baby was the best behaved child at WDW. I used a sling and the sit and stand with the carrier attachment. You will have a great time and get some cool pics for the baby album.

Hi! Congratulations on your upcoming new addition! We went in September 2008 for free dining with our 9 week old daughter, along with our 3 and 5 year old daughters. It really was very easy! We did not bring her infant car seat into the parks with us, we had our Peg Perego stroller (that the seat does fit in) that fully reclined and she slept in that. While in the restaurants she was usually in the sling or Baby Bjorn (I brought both). When she needed to nurse we used the baby stations at each of the parks. They were all very nice and clean as well as comfortable. It was a great place to relax for a few minutes and they had tv's (and air conditionining!!!) for my older two to watch with their Dad. The baby stations all had rocking chairs in a closed off area for nursing in a dim room which was very nice. They also had an area where you could buy just about anything you needed for a baby (diapers, wipes, baby food, baby Tylenol, sunscreen, diaper ointment, etc.). Lilly just slept most of the time while we were in the parks and we used the rider swap for taking our older girls on the rides where she couldn't go. It really was a great trip and I would highly recommend it, having a non-mobile, little baby who sleeps most of the time was really not an issue!

I highly recommend a wrap or a mei tai for your babe. They keep your babe close and away from all those hands that "just can't resist" touching a babe.

It is GREAT taking a little one!! We just were at the World March 3-10th with our first little girl - she turned 10 weeks while we were there. It was SO, SO, SO easy!!!!! She sleeps all night at home and did so there too. We have a Maclaren and put her snuzzler in it and she was in that all day and loved it!! She loves her stroller!! She enjoyed looking at all of the lights and sounds too! I wore her in the moby wrap and my ring sling a good bit to let her change positions and also while we were in line. She went on EVERYTHING that didn't have a height requirement and was just fine!! The only thing that upset her were fireworks and Mickey's Philharmagic. During MP the water sprayed on her and scared her. She did fine during Wishes, but cried and cried during Illumitaions. I just took her inside the shop in Japan and she was fine. She was so good during meals too - slept in her stroller the entire time!! Even in The California Grill, Narcoossee's, ect... she was perfect!! They let us bring the stroller everywhere too which was great! The baby care centers are really, really nice too!!! Nice and cool. Great place to go to change diapers or feed. I definitely recommend going with a little one this age!! I'm sure our next trip when she's 15 months will be alot harder!!

The only thing I didn't like was that I got at least 2-3 comments daily about having such a young baby at WDW. Some people were just down right rude!! Someone asked me if we had come straight from the hospital and told me I was a horrible mother for bringing such a young baby.... :headache: But you just have to ignore people like that...

I went in June when DD was 3 months. It was very hot weather, but it was a relief when I could go into the mother's rooms to nurse in the a/c.

I especially found the people at SeaWorld to be exceptionally accommodating. It was so hot, the guy in charge of the mother's room told me to take a water for everyone in the family.

Most of the time the baby slept in the stroller in the infant car seat.

On the plane ride, I tried to time it so she'd nurse when we were taking off, to alleviate the pressure in her ears.

SO SO EASY!!
The first trip we made, 10 days we traveled with an almost 2 year old, almost 3 year old and my youngest was 8 weeks old. We went with friends who had an almost 2 year old, and a 12 week old as well.
The babies were SO easy! We would wake up in the morning, strap them on, and off we went. I was nursing, she would come out of the sling to eat, and have diapers but spent probably 90% of the trip in the sling. Most rides I did not even have to take the sling off, she slept through it all. She was fine at night as well, I felt great it was fine. I have the cutest picture of Mickey holding her, with the other two right there. Mary poppins was going to keep her and let us pick her back up after our epcot day!! We even did a few christmas partys with all of them, it was fabulous. I would take a newborn anyday.
The next trip the youngest was 15 months....while I loved that trip as well, and she was great. It was much easier with a new born, less to worry about.
We did not bring the carseat at all, just a single stroller between all 3 kids, but like I said, the baby spent 90% of the time in the sling, the two year old in the stroller, and my oldest ran everywhere, the entire week. She was like the energizer bunny, just kept going and going!

I will also let you know, the characters (not face), are not supposed to hold babies. But Mickey was knealing down, and asked (in mickey talk), we were right there and it was fine. But, I always tell people not to expect it if they don't, because they are not supposed to hold babies.

Actually on this trip we never even went to the baby care center, no need. She ate wherever we were (on a few slow rides too), and I changed her in the stroller when needed.

Since it is Jan, you won't have to worry about it being too hot either. We went in December, and I was glad we did not have to deal with the heat. Mainly because I sweat like a pig, and I could just imagine wearing a baby in a sling all day in the 100Degree heat. So, it was beautiful when we were there, low 70s, maybe a few days of 80s. Perfect weather.

Have fun!

We went in Jan one year when my second was 7 weeks old. It was a breeze :) He was always sleeping or nursing. I used a sling too, and it was all much calmer than I'd predicted. We go every year, and that trip still goes down as one of the best we've ever taken. Have fun and good luck with your delivery!
