We are going to Disney over the last 2 weeks of Christmas. We are aware of how crowded and crazy it will be but we go to Disney often so it's not a big deal if we miss certain rides and such.

What is important is having a Christmas Dinner on Christmas day. We plan to get to MK first thing and spend the entire day there. We want to eat at Liberty for Christmas dinner.

I plan to get up first thing and go online 180 days in advance and book.
I know you can book 180 days plus 10 from the start of your check in. What I am concerned about is we don't check into AKL until Dec 23rd. So anyone checking in say Friday-Sunday would have had a head start on booking their dining reservations.

Anyone have any tips?

There are no tricks!! As you have already outlined, others have days of availability ahead of you. Just be flexible in what time you will eat and hope for the best.
Good Luck

Be online at 6 Am eastern or if that doesn't work, call at 7 AM eastern Sharp, and be prepared to be flexible with your times. That's the best tip there is and basically the only one. There is nothing you can do about other guests with 180 plus 10 booking having a head start on you.

If you can not get an ADR for 6 PM dinner at LTT -
What about a late lunch - early dinner ?

At 3 PM you get the lunch menu prices and still have a turkey meal.
Also it will be less crowded.

Pilgrims' Feast - traditional roast turkey with herb bread stuffing, mashed potatoes and a garden vegetable

New England Pot Roast... Our Tavern Keeper's Favorite - braised beef in a cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetable

Freedom Pasta - Fusilli Pasta with Sauteed Chicken, Seasonal Vegetables, and Mushrooms tossed in a Cream Sauce

Oh yeah I would be fine with a late lunch :) I don't care what time we eat at all. I was just hoping something will still be left if I am online at 6am. Good to know lunch has the special Christmas menu cause that's something I actually had wondered. I prob would prefer a late lunch if that's the case.

This past Christmas Day, there was not a lunch menu. Only the Turkey Family Style dinner was served for the one price per person.
(My daughter was not hungry, so I canceled on Christmas Day 10 minutes before our reservation.)
Also, my trip was late in planning and I managed a ressie there on 12/25 within a month out... Don't give up.

Awesome! That's promising lol

Have you considered taking a boat over to the Wilderness Lodge for Christmas dinner. Traditional Christmas dinner in a beautiful setting and it would be nice to have a break from the MK, especially on Christmas Day

But be careful with this plan. If MK reaches capacity, which is does at that time of year, you may not be able to return after you have eaten

I thought one of the perks of being on site was guaranteed entrance to the parks? At least it used to be. OP said they were staying at AKL

Not really. The Magic Kingdom usually reaches capacity by 9:30 a.m. on Christmas morning. In all my times I have avoided MK on Christmas day until after dinner when I go to watch the fireworks. There is a possibility you may not get back in but it has never happened to me in my experience. Usually families with little ones are gone. Much different situation than NYE when everybodys main purpose is to be there at midnight.

My understanding is that guarantees entry to A park, not necessarily the park of your choice. If MK is closed to capacity, even being an onsite guest will not get you in (though you'd be able to get into at least one other park).

At least, that is how it was explained to me.

Are you booked using DVC points or cash? If cash, I would try to extend your stay so that Christmas day is your day 10 - so a check-in date of 12/15? At your 180 day mark, make your dinner reservation at LTT... and then, maybe two weeks later, call Disney back to move your resort stay back to a check-in of 12/23. If you're staying on points, try for a dinner reservation the minute your window opens. Best of luck to you!

Yeah I don't want to risk leaving the park and not getting back in cause this is an experience we are only doing once and we really want to be in the park in the evening. I would regret it if I didn't get back in.

We are staying on DVC points. Is it awful that I have considered booking a room checking on earlier and then cancelling it after I have my reservations... Lol

. . . We want to eat at Liberty for Christmas dinner . . . Anyone have any tips?

1) Prayer.
2) Luck.
3) Bribery.
4) Last minute cancellations (but, not usually on Christmas).
5) Know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone.
6) Find a Concierge with a Dining Override Code. *

* Override codes can get you into ANY eatery even if it is oversold. The
only exceptions are HDDR, Luau, BBQ, V&A, due to true capacity limitations.

I went online today and was able to get my reservations no problem!

Except now I am a bit torn. I have a lunch reservation and a dinner reservation. I am not sure which one I should keep. And will the lunch menu have the turkey dinner option as the dinner menu..

There's a guarantee that you will be able to enter a park...but not necessarily the park you want. If you wanted MK but it's closed for capacity, there are 3 other parks.

If the OP is a Disney resort guests they will be allowed entrance up to a stage 3 closing, but at stage 4, nobody gets in until enough people leave to negate the stage 4 closing.

Lunch always has the turkey option. It's listed on the menu as Pilgrim's Feast. The only question is whether it will be a la carte as lunch usually is, or fixed price served family style. A previous poster said that on Christmas Eve (and probably Christmas Day) they convert the restaurant to family style all day, but it's probably best to decide whether you prefer a la carte or family style and choose based on that. But no matter what there will be a turkey meal available.
