Tips for getting 18 month old to sleep in the room?

We leave in six days for the Poly with my 18 month old, 4 year old, and six year old. We requested a pack-n-play/crib for the room.

Usually the baby is a good sleeper in his crib at home. But I think if he wakes up and sees the rest of us in beds he'll want to be there too. I'm hoping he'll be so tired he'll sleep through the night, but that probably won't happen!

Anyone have any tricks they use for the baby?

I know this problem all too well. The only thing we did was we had to lay baby in his pack and play, and the big kids in bed, then DH and I would end up sitting on the floor of the bathroom sharing a 7-up waiting for them to fall asleep, because they would not fall asleep with us in the room awake. And we weren't quite ready to go to bed yet!

And that's one reason we bought DVC....they have their room, we have ours. Good luck to you!

I like the little bears with the changing night lights in their tummy, it keeps them occupied untill they fall asleep, and if you play music at home too soothe bring some with you.

The other thing is to place a cover over the side of the crib so that if he wakes up he or she can't see you right away because of the cover blocking the view, when they can't see you they may go back to sleep.:surfweb:

Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to try the cover and hiding in the bathroom. Both sound like they just might work. Hopefully the other kiddos will fall asleep fast too!

Bring a inflatable air matress for the 6 year old. Have them sleep on the floor on that. Leave one parent alone in a bed next to the pack n play. When the 18 month old wakes up (and you know they wil) just let him sleep with you. It is not worth the battle to be up all night at WDW and tired the next day.

I never let me kids sleep with me at home but at WDW whatever gets all of us sleep is what we do. No one is happy if they are tired.
