Hello everyone!
My fiancee' and I are getting married August 5th and Disneymooning the 7th-15th of August. We're staying at the Swan and greatly looking forward to our trip. We've heard some great suggestions from friends, but we wanted to consult this forum to get tips for the trip. We've never been to Disney World before, however we have been to Disneyland (in fact, I proposed in front of the Main Street Merchantile Band). Any tips for first timers on their honeymoon? I've heard that the His/Her wedding ears are a great idea...anything else? Thanks everyone!

You should find some good suggestions on the wedding/honeymoon thread. We are also going to the Swan for our honeymoon in February..however we have stayed at the resort before. When you make your reservation let them know it is your honeymoon and they will make note of it on your reservation..and then when you check in ask if you can get a complimentary upgrade to a balcony, those are great. Our favorite restaurant at the Swan is Palios for Italian- very romantic and there is a strolling violinist who plays romantic Disney tunes! Also Kimono's in Swan serves excellent Japanese food/sushi. Take an evening walk on Boardwalk and enjoy the Swan's grotto pool! We love this resort, it's adult and romantic. Congrats! Oh one more thing, in the honeymoon forum there is a discussion around personalized t-shirts you can get from www.disneyshopping.com...they have a pic of newlyweds mic and minnie you can personalize and wear around the parks.

I did buy the personalized shirts the previous poster mention and plan to wear them on one day of our Disneymoon trip in September.

You can also get honeymoon pins at each guest services center of every park.

I am still on the fence about the ears but may still buy then for pictures. I really don't see myself or my wife wearing them ALL day. I really want to wear a hat, especially in the blazing Florida sun.

One other tip, throughout the boards (especially the wedding/honeymoon boards) you will find that people have had various experiences on their honeymoons in terms of special treatment. I would suggest to go there and really ride the high of your new marriage and the magic that Disney and WDW brings. If that is true, you should have an amazingly wonderful trip regardless if any extra "pixie dust" events happen or not.

We stayed at the Dolphin on our honeymoon. Defiantly spend some evenings on the Boardwalk. I would also look into dinner at Victoria and Albert’s. We didn't do this on our honeymoon, but we did for our two year anniversary. You won't be disappointed.

Wear the bride and groom mouse ears. My daughter and SIL just Honeymooned in Disney last March. They were given several "free passes" by cast members because they had on the Honeymoon Ears. The free pass allowed them to go to the front of any line that they chose. Worked like a fastpass but you had to be given one by a CM.

Also when they ate at CRT, the waiter made a heart out of confetti on the table and they had a super table with a great view.

congratulations & welcome to the dis! as a recent disneymooner i can defintely recommend a couples spa treatment at the mandara spa at the swan, it was so relaxing & romantic! you've got some good tips here ie the wedding ears, free just married pins at the park guest services but also check out the disney wedding & honeymoon board & the swan & dolphin faq on the resort board, do a search. i recommend dinner at le cellier in epcot (they have fabolous, steak, salmon & canadian bacon cheddar soup) followed by watching illuminations on the lagoon, epcot has an awesome firework show. also an fyi there is boat access & walkway from the swan to epcot & mgm. have fun & take your time, theres so much to see!

My wife and I live is Massachusetts, with her family being here, and mine in Texas. We didn't want a big wedding, and so no one would be jealous, we did the sensible thing... go to Disney World!! Our trip was from Oct. 28th thru Nov. 6th, and on the morning of the 1st, we caught a cab from the All Star Movies to the Kissimmee courthouse, had our little ceremony just the 2 of us, with one lady marrying us and another snapping pictures, and we were standing in front of the castle by noon!!! We felt like we were treated like royalty on that day especially, but thru the rest of our trip! We had already purchased the bride and groom ears, and I bought a Mickey/Minnie wedding pin and stuck it on the front of my tophat. We went to guest relations first thing when we stepped inside the gate, they gave us pins to wear that say congrats (or something like that) and we wore those the whole time. They gave us a very special certificate that said congrats, our names and the date of our wedding, and was autographed by all the characters!! We got VIP seating on our wedding day for the daytime parade!! We got free desserts just about every counter service place we went!! We made reservations for Tony's on our wedding night, and they decorated the table with confetti & streamers and gave us a free dessert!! We were given wedding trading pins a couple of times!! We got "backdoor-ed" on several rides, and we got to ride Splash Mountain with just the two of us in the car, and we got the picture they snap on there for free!! But the most magical thing was getting stopped walking down Main Street about 15 minutes after we arrived on our wedding day by the Dapper Dans (the barbershop quartet) and having our first dance in the middle of Main Street while being serenaded with "When You Wish Upon a Star"!!! It was truly the most magical time of my life! This was also my first visit to Disney World. My wife had been several times before, but according to her, nothing will ever compare to our Disneymoon!!!
