Tips for cleaning flat wall paint?

*sigh* It's great to be in a new house but it's really frustrating trying to clean the walls! The builder used flat paint on all the walls and I'm having a hard time cleaning them.

I have some hairspray on one wall. I washed it last night with just a damp washcloth and the hairspray is still there.

I had some scuff marks from moving stuff into the new house. I used a magic eraser, BAD idea. Now you can see where I used the magic eraser, it's darker than the wall.

I'm afraid if I use a cleaner on my washcloth that you'll be able to see where I wash. Do I have to touchup with paint? I would guess you would be able to see those marks too?

Any advice?

No advice except always choose semi-gloss in your home! Especially with kids! It cleans like a breeze. We use Benjamin Moore Aqua pearl paint. I think it is like a semi-gloss light. Good luck. Do you have any leftover paint? You could touch it up if you have leftover.

i feel your pain - we have flat paint in our apartment. i'll be reading this thread with interest. the best i have found is a damp paper towel, but that doesn't get rid of everything.

I used a Mr. Clean magic eraser on my walls, and didn't have any problems with the paint discoloring; maybe it's just a different brand of paint.

Try a little bit of vinegar in some water.

I have used a tiny bit of Comet on a damp sponge...workes for EVERYTHING...but if the wall has color...do it very lightly!
