Tips for Bibbity Bobbity Boutique?

Does anyone have any tips for getting the most from a BBB experience? We're making plans for a trip with our granddaughter, who'll be a little over 4 when we go, and want to bring her to BBB. Are there extras worth the cost and others that are not? Any other things to know before we get there?

I am not sure this is a "great" tip, but I have booked my daughter's last two visits at the Magic Kingdom location for 8am - on a non-EMH morning. Why? Because when she is done - we are right at the front of Fantasyland when the park opens and it is wonderful! We were first on Dumbo and loved it!

Also - having an 8am reservation means you get to walk into MK without a ton of people. We got some great photos in front of the castle without anyone else in the photos!

Also - many girls come with princess outfits already on - which is a great way to do it. They look and feel like little princesses. It also saves you from buying an outfit (MUCH more expensive at the park)!

So again for January, I have an 8am reservation at Magic Kingdom. My DD and I are excited to have our morning together. She gets her hair done all up - we go on some rides, then meet daddy for a mid-morning breakfast!

Have fun! It really is a cute thing to do. A little pricey... but worth it.

We took our own dress that I got on sale at the Disney store after Halloween. This saved $120 (we did the hair, nails, and makeup for about $50). The BBB was a wonderful experience for my daughter. I hope you have a wonderful time as well!

My only tips would be to make a reservation and bring a dress!

I agree with pp's bring a dress (last time my dd went she just wore jeans and a tee) and if you want to go the one in MK make an early ressie.
My best advice would be to let your dd pick her own hairstyle, even if it's not what you would prefer. When we went the first time my dd was sure she wanted the pop princess and I thought it would be too crazy but it came out so cute-especially since she was dressed as Tinkerbell. Bring a camera to take lots of pics!
Just make sure her hair is clean but you don't need to bring a comb or brush.
You can tip your fairy godmother in cash after if you want. They do pool tips, so you don't have to worry about it if there is more than one fairy godmother working on your dd's hair or makeup.
You will both enjoy it-I love seeing my dd feel like a "real" princess!

My sister forked over the $$ for my daughter to have the whole kit and caboodle, my only tip would be (if you choose to do the whole package)....to ask to see all the dresses to choose from...we thought it was only the usual, but there were a few more we didn't know about.

I also like the big package, because you get to do a little photo shoot too! That was kind of neat for my dd...she felt like a queen, needless to say, that night we had dinner with the princesses and she opened up more, she felt like she belonged with them!!

Thanks very much for all the great suggestions! My daughter wants to use the MK location, and the idea of making an 8 AM appt never occurred to me, but we'll definitely try to do that. It also sounds like bringing a dress makes much more sense (and saves many cents!), so we'll do that, too. Letting her choose her own hairstyle is also a great idea, she definitely likes to be in charge. Thanks again for all the help!

I think everyone can get the photoshoot done but you only get the free picture with the big package but anyone can get the photos added to their photopass card

Here are my tips - we've taken my dd two times and she absolutely loves going to BBB.

1) Bring your own dress - we've brought Cinderelle and Belle's Christmas dress, both from TRU for about $30 or so. The dresses at DW are up around $70 or so.

2) Buy the very basic package, total is around $45 or so. Don't forget to tip!

3) You can get the professional pictures taken and have them added to your photopass account, ask the photopass photographer in the BBB room, they'll tell you right where to go. You do not need to buy the deluxe package to have this done.

4) We also do an 8AM appointment and have breakfast at the castle after we are finished.

For those who have made the ressies for BBB and attended...how strict are they about the minimum age of 3? My youngest will be 3 weeks shy of her third birthday when we're there. I really want both girls to be able to do this and there is no way DD2 will be okay with DD5 getting to do it, but not her. Do they ask if she has a WDW ticket? She's tall for her age, so people usually think she's at least a year older than she is, but I don't want to make the ressies only to find out she can't since she's not an official 3 year old. Oh - She does sit still for her hair. I do her hair in a pony or pig tails every morning - and she generally sits very nicely for me. She also sits nicely when she gets her hair cut. What do you experts think?

PS - I love the idea of the 8am ressie to get an empty main street! I really wanted the empty main street, but I don't want to spend our TS on breakfast ressies just to get into the park early.

When we were there some of the little girls were very small and I'm not sure they were 3. When I booked they asked the age and i was never asked to prove it. MY DD was 4 so it wasn't an issue for me but I think you would be fine.
Also when we were there 1 little girl was really not wanting to sit down to get her hair done but they went off and got har a princess book and someone read that to her and she was able to sit on her mums knee

I agree with bringing your own dress. My dd wore her's there and we had booked the basic package...but that was without the nails, I think. We asked to add that part on there, and that was fine. I certainly didn't see anyone having to prove the age of the child. I think they perceive three as the magic age of being able to sit still.....not always the case. Also...most of the play make up and things like that say "for age 3 and up" on them. Maybe a liability thing?

We did a 4:15 pm appointment...it was VERY crowded and running behind pretty significantly...so if I were to do this with my dd again next time we all go...I'd do the early appointment. Makes more sense...and she gets more bang for the buck being able to wear the hair around the parks with her dress on for the whole day, rather than half.

We have 8am ressies and then a 905 at CRT. How close is the BBB to the Tinkerbell shop where you can "wake up" Tink? I was thinking it would be sooo cool to try and squeeze that in between! Any thoughts?

Most of the princess dressed get very warm during the day. Make sure that you have a change of clothes otherwise you might have a giant princess sized meltdown.

I prefer to get the dress from BBB. We only do it about once a year, so we budget for it. It is an incredible experience. We like to schedule lunch at CRT on the day we do BBB too.

Your granddaughter is very lucky to have grandparents like you and I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for you all.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! The dresses can get hot and itchy! Have a backup plan and an alternate outfit to change into after a couple hours of glamour....I saw a few variations that seem to make everyone happy. One family put the girls in cute Disney sundresses that had "their" Princess on them. Another family had those summer nightgowns with the chiffon skirts. (They looked like sundresses) Yet another family had very cute Princess short sets. All the little girls looked adorable and still felt special and pretty but were comfortable.

Even a regular everyday outfit can be jazzed up with a few sparkly accessories. Anything is better than a "Princess" who refuses to change but is making everyone around her miserable.

Whoops - we did forget this. I don't know why, but it never entered my mind to tip our stylist. She was really good too. Now I feel bad. I didn't see anybody else tipping either.

I may be the only dissenter here, but I took dd to BBB last June, and I will never do it again. We went to the BBB in Downtown Disney, and it was nothing more than an assembly line. We were rushed through. There was nothing magical about it. They had a line a mile long behind us, so they did not care if we were not happy. We had a sylist that I could not understand, and she did not want to hear me. She was just trying to get through as fast as she could. Most others in BBB at the time had purchased the whole package, including the dress. We only purchased the small package, so I guess we were not inportant enough, or spending enough to count. (DD was wearing a pink cotton dress with princesses on it. it was too hot for one of those dress up dresses.) We will never do it again.

Just my 2 cents....
