We are generally mid-afternoon pool people. During our trip in August, I think we probably hit the pool mid-day just about every day. Our next trip is in February. We went once in February, and I recall going swimming once for about 5 minutes because it was so cold that week.

We are staying at AKV. It will be our first time there. We are sure hoping that we'll have some pool weather, as the Kidani pool looks really great.

For those of you who have gone in February before, how have your trips been different from those taken in the hotter months? Do you go to the pool? If not, how do you replace time normally spent at the pool?

We went this past Febraury, but didn't swim much. The kids did, they never mind the cold water. Our trip was different from our usual August trips because we didn't take afternoon breaks. Instead we stayed at the park and left whenever we felt like it, some nights earlier than others. We tried to do some different things at night. We have two boys so we went to the Campfire with Chip and Dale one night, It was perfect in Feb. I can't imagine sitting around a campfire in August! We sat on the beach at the Poly a few nights and watched the water parade and then watched Wishes from there.

By the way, we just got back from Kidani three weeks ago. It was amazing. You will love it!

Of course Feb. weather can be iffy, but we can always swim as long as the water is heated! You don't seem to need the breaks in Feb. because you're not so exhausted from the heat. Since the parks close earlier than in the summer, we generally stay in the parks til they close, then eat dinner in the villa and swim in the evening or go to DTD or something. Sometimes we even just watch a movie in bed and go to bed early so we can get up early for EMH the next day.

Most of the time the water is warm enough for swimming, especially since the pools are heated. We have even been to the water parks. There have been a few times where it was too cold for me, but the kids went in anyway. I would be prepared for both. You never know when a freakish cold snap will happen in Florida during the winter months.

We stayed at Saratoga this Jan/Feb (developer points).
We liked going over to Beach Club and sitting in the beach chairs, reading and enjoying the sun. It put us close to all the restaurant choices at World Showcase, too!
At animal it is wonderful to sit on the balcony and enjoy the tranquility of the location and the view of the animals.

We went the first week of Feb this year and FROZE just about the whole time. We heard that the week before had been great and the weather was getting better when we left. I think that you just never know. We are looking at early Jan and I'm hoping for some decent not too cold days so the kids can try out the pool at Kidani. (we are new owners WOOHOO)

You will LOVE Kidani and love being there to just hang out. The resort is beautiful and we loved just watching the animals. We had a Savanna view and just loved sitting out watching the animals. We were only there two nights but we never went to a park. :goodvibes

For us, we personally prefer the colder months. My DD and I are really not good in the heat and humidity. August in NY is tough enough for me:goodvibes

We used to go in February (before the kids were in college and had Pres week off.). We love that time of year because we usually would have at least one, if not two, hot enough days for swimming and hanging around the resort, and the other days cool enough to really enjoy park touring without the sweltering heat and humidity. It's personally my favorite time of year to be there.

We now travel there with the kids in early January because it's the only time of year they are both off from college together (without working). We need the sweatshirts and at night sweatshirt and jackets. But again, it's usually about the parks, not the pools for us, so the colder weather makes it easy to do what we want to do.

Have a good time!

I have been in February once for a three nighter. It was the first week of February 2008 and there were near record high temperatures. We had planned on blue jeans and long sleeved shirts and I ended up wearing the only pair of shorts i brought all three days. I got in the swimming pool wearing gym shorts because I hadn't brought a bathing suit! We had checked the weather forecast and it was quite off the mark!

Be prepared for whatever weather could occur. You may want to consider layering if are going for an extended stay at the parks. It could be cool enough for a light jacket in the morning, warm enough for short sleeves during the day and back to cool enough for a jacket in the evening. I agree with others that you may want to go to the parks for the full day given that the temperatures won't be so hot that you need a break and the park hours are shorter than at peak times.

We go January or February every year and the only water we've ever gotten in was the hot tub! Too cold for us. We do, however, like to get a chair and lay in the sun. While it's not too hot, it sure feels good.
