Tips for a 1st Timers Food & Wine!

I have to admit...the Food and Wine Festival doesn't interest me in the slightest. I am trying to get excited about it because it happens to be when we are going, so I feel like we might as well give it a try :confused3. My husband is a vegetarian, I rarely eat meat, and we will have our 2 year old with us (who eats everything but potatoes- he loves food). We eat pretty exotically on a regular basis so I don't see anything particularly new for us. Some things sound good, and I might stop off and try them, but I am just not super excited. I am hoping I will be pleasantly surprised when we get there and it will be more interesting than I think it will be.

Will touring the world showcase (just for touring purposes, not F&W purposes) be too crowded in the evenings or do just the food booths get crowded?

We have a dinner res for 7pm in Epcot during food and wine. My question. Would you cancel do to the added options and booths? They are not on the dining plan. Wife and I are going back and forth, well maybe disagreeing more than anything. She looks at the added cost since we are a family of five. She wants to just get a gift card use for lunch and use our table service credit later that night. WHAT BETTER PLACE TO BE RIGHT. so why use a table service credit? We have free dinning for our entire stay. My arguement lets just do it, we dont know when we will be back.

We are going to Disney at the end of October and this will be our first visit to F&W. My BFF and I are super excited, our husbands not so much. I am so glad to hear the different suggestions, thank you so much everyone. I am in super planning mode and cannot wait to start reading the reviews.

I agree with all the suggestions and mostly Don't Be Afraid To Try New Things!! I hate fish, I can tolerate shrimp but not much more. So one of our favorite booths was Mexico with the Chilaquiles, first stop every year. Then they were replaced with Fish Tacos:mad: Are you kidding me??? But several friends said to at least try them which I did. They were so good, I even went back another day for another one. Who knew:confused3. So like in the old commercial when they told Mikey, Try it, you'll like it!! (OK everyone under 30 can get the confused look off your face, it was a big commercial way back then!!)

Also wanted to mention that there are usually several local artisans with booths at F&W. One of our favorites is an artist who's paintings have lots of food & wine themes. Her name is Heather French and she is just delightful to chat with. Look for her booth (usually) between France and USA. :artist:

We bought three prints from her that will go in our new house. Seriously considering commissioning her to do something special for the house once its built.

Agree. Her work is amazing. We have a few pieces in our house as well and hoping to add more this year.

Echoing all the great advice that has been given:

  • Try to avoid the weekends
  • Share
  • Prepare to try new things (and perhaps not like some stuff)
  • Wristband gift cards are super convenient
  • Passports make a fun souvenir
  • Share tables and talk to other guests - so fun to meet people & compare notes
  • The Festival Center opens at 9 with the rest of the park if you are looking for an early start (vs. the 11am World Showcase open)

Enjoy!!! :)
