I am heading off to the World in December for my first ever solo trip. I haven't been to Disney since my honeymoon, over 9 years ago. Although I plan to go with the flow, what are some tips you can share with me?

Where are good people-watching places, or places to sit and relax? What restaurants have bars or lounges where you can order off of the menu? What kinds of things are there that you wouldn't think of as an adult to do without kids?

Thanks!

Well first let me say congrats on your first solo trip. You will love it. Next let me say that from the 4th of december through the 19th of december there are a fair amount of DISboard peeps going to be there. Check out the who is going when thread and the so so solo in December thread. Meeting up with fellow disers is FUN FUN FUN.

I have taken tons of solo trips, and they're great! First of all, think of all the things you really want to do - attractions, restaurants, shops, recreation, etc., and then organize your trip around those things. The best part is you don't have to answer to anyone else, so if you like the idea of spending an entire day in one section of one park, you can! If you like seafood, but the rest of your family hates it, you can have seafood to your heart's content. There are no limitations and nothing to hold you back. You'll be so spoiled!

I've never felt awkward in any Disney restaurant dining alone, because there are so many people traveling alone, or who are there with someone attending a convention or meeting, that you're never the only solo around. The CM's are pretty good about talking when you want to talk, and leaving you alone when you don't. So don't let the fact that you are going solo keep you away from any of the restaurants you want to enjoy.

As far as people watching spots, a couple of my faves are the rocking chairs on the porch near Tony's Town Square, and the benches facing the fountain just past Mousegear at Epcot.

the only tip really for a solo trip is to do what you want. sounds simple but we often don't do for ourselves. i am heading there tomorrow on my second solo trip to WDW. i can't wait. i love to sit at the france pavillion in epcot and have a pastry and drink and people watch. for me, i am going to try and spend every second doing things that my family do not want to do. and i'll do them over and over again if i like. your gonna love it!
