When in the parks, what is the best way to pay for tips and other extras, such as souvenirs? Can you connect a credit card to your magic band?

Yes you can connect a card to your magic band, though if you're staying onsite the way it works is you essentially run up a 'tab' and once you hit $500 they charge your card or at the end of your stay, whatever comes first. Some vendors such as those that sell glow mickey ears and balloons only take cash last time I checked. It's always good to have a back up on you besides the magic band such as a credit card, cash, or disney gift card as technology is prone to bugs and your magic band has a small chance of failing.

You can only put a CC on your MB if you're staying onsite. Offsite guests cannot use this feature.

If you're staying onsite, you the threshold when they will charge the CC on file is dependent on the level of resort at which you are staying. People staying at Value Resorts will see their CCs magically charged when their spending reaches $500 (sometimes before that amount if you're very close to $500). The threshold for Moderate Resort guests is $1000 and Deluxe/DVC Resort vacationers will have their CCs charged when their total is at or near $1500.

You don't actually link anything to your magic band. Your band is just a key to your MDE profile. You can use the magic band to charge back to your room, and you can put a credit card on file to handle room charges.

In the park, we get a Disney Gift card and put cash on it, that way we have a set limit of what we are spending and if you lose it, it is not as bad as losing your actual credit card. Just present your gift card receipt to guest services and they can cancel the one and give you another. I also take a picture of the actual card with my phone just in case. You can use the gift card for everything at the parks, with the exception of (as pp stated) some street vendors are cash only. Tipping I always do in cash even if I can add the total to the credit card/gift card like at the restaurants. I used to work in the service industry and cash tips are ALWAYS Appreciated.
