Just a quick question about tipping the bellman for your luggage....say you get there and the room isn't ready they take and store your luggage.... do you tip the man taking the luggage and also tip the bellman who delivers your luggage????
Thanks

We didn't know if our stuff would be going into storage or not until after we went to the front desk. Anyhow, we tipped the guy unloading a couple of bucks, and then tipped five to the guy who brought our luggage to us later.

I would.

If it were my luggage and I am giving it to a person to take someplace I don't know. You bet I'm tipping them. If I get to my room and call for luggage and a different person delivered it, and it's all there, I'm tipping them too. It may seem a bit much, but I get all my stuff in good condition and I didn't have to lug my bags, my wifes bags, and my two daughters bags to the room. Take care of them and they will take care of you.

I tip both as well.

Our luggage is removed from the car by the valet parking attendant who then delivers these items to the bell station as well as seeing to the parking of the rental car. Usually, I tip at least $5 for this and sometimes more depending on quantity of items involved, since this person both parks the car and delivers the luggage cart to bell services for storage until we are in the room. For the two of us staying in a studio for 6 nights, we usually have two suitcases, two bags of groceries, a 12-pack of soda and a 12-pack of water bottles. One of the grocery bags likely holds a 6-pack of already cold beer and some other refrigerator items which need to be cooled unless we get into the room right away. Overall, quite a lot of stuff to get moved to the room if you do it yourself. When we have the bellperson deliver the luggage, I tip again, usually $1 per "item" so this is another $5 or $6 during the typical visit.

Since the thread title was tipping, I add as a point of information that I tip valet parking attendants $2 each time, both when I drop off the car and when I retrieve it.
