I've read posts RE: tiping housekeeping. How much should you tip per day? TIA!

wahoo2 - where are you staying? There are loads of messages/threads about tipping elsewhere and generally it seems $1 per adult per room is usual and leaving it in a marked envelope on a daily basis is the best way to do it.

Some people have given tips in one lump sum at the end of their holiday, but the problem with that is if you have a different maid that day then your usual maid may not get any of it.

Tipping on a daily basis of about $1 per adult per room in a marked envelope is best.

Anyone else have any ideas?

We are staying at the Pop Century in May! I stayed at CB about 5 years ago for our honeymoon and I didn't tip!! I didn't even think about it. So I just wanna make sure I don't jip anyone this year - thanks for the advice!

We use a $2 bill each day in an envelop addressed to Mousekeeping.

Also, if you tip daily rather than just at the end of your vacation, you generally will get better service.

We generally tip twice per day- morning housekeeper and evening turn down service. I usually bring envelopes from home and make sure to have a stack of singles because running around looking for change in the morning can be a hassle.

Thanks 2BoysMum&Dad for the great site! I just printed a bunch!

And can I just say, everyone on this board is great! I've only posted twice with questions and both times I got wonderful answers right away! This board has been better than any of my guide books (which my husband makes fun out of me for buying)LOL!!

Thanks again!

I start stashing away singles about 2 months before I leave. I make up envelopes for Mousekeeping, bell services, skycab, limo or mears and 1 or two extra envelopes just in case. Mousekeeping I leave $3.00 per day for my son and myself, bell services & skycab $3.00/each way (only two bags), limo or mears $5.00 each way. If I forget someone, I just grab a handy dandy premade envelope and I'm all set.
::yes:: I usually put Disney stickers on it too. Hope this helps.

We fill the tip envelopes while still at home, date each one, and rubber band them together. That way, each morning as we are getting ready to leave, I just drop the envelope on the bed.

I keep the rubber band stack in my make-up bag, so I don't forget to grab one when I'm doing make-up (never forget that), and we don't have to hunt for money!

BTW---I leave $5 a day (buck a person). I live in a tipping town, and work a tip job. We think it's important for our kids to understand about rewarding excellent service, and they enjoy decorating the envelopes.

Wahoo - books can be very useful, there's a great one for Brits by Simon Veness which he updates every year. A book is good for bedtime reading and can give you ideas to check up on when you are next on-line.

But, for all those "little" details and an instant response - this forum is great! There are over 62,000 members (probably 63,000 by now!) and someone is bound to know anything you need to know plus a whole load more!

I can hardly believe the figures at the top of the homepage - now reading well over five million postings! If there isn't everything you could possibly ever want to know about WDW in amongst that lot - well, words would fail me!

Glad you find this place useful and we all try to be friendly. The funny thing is, I now feel totally at home here and feel like I am amongst family with all the other DISboard members but then have to remind myself that I have only been a member for about four weeks!! LOL. I suppose it's because I have read so many messages and have got stuck in myself so much that I feel right at home.
