Do most of you leave your tip on the bill or do you give it to them yourself?

Our first cruise we took the tips off our stateroom accounts and just presented our respective CM's with cash in the tip envelopes. The second year we left them on the account & added a little extra cash. If I remember correctly, you get printouts to put in the tip envelopes that let them know how much you left them. Next cruise I think we'll do the same, leave them on the account & add extra cash when necessary for above & beyond service :)

We do both -- leave the charge on our account but also hand over the envelope in person.

As PP mentions, you get "coupons" to put in the envelopes if you charge the tips to your onboard account. I believe most people give those envelopes directly to the CM, sometimes adding extra cash. If you have charged tips to your account, the CMs will receive it whether or not you give them the envelope with coupon. However, it's helpful for them to make sure they do in fact receive the correct payment, and also a nice time to say "thank you" in person.

If you decide to remove the charges from your onboard account, the only way to give tips is by handing over the envelope.

Enjoy your cruise!

we leave our gratuities on our room charge. we do go to guest services and have them adjusted up for the people we want to tip more too. At the appropriate time (last night of the cruise), we give the envelopes with the coupons that Guest Services has printed to each server / steward.

Do you ever leave anything other than money as a tip? Meaning, yes, still tip...but then maybe give them an international calling card so they can call home, or just a little something like that.....

Awwsome thanks folks. I wanted to give them extra but didnt want them to think that was all they were getting.

Cash is king.
Yes, cash is king, and while we tip extra cash as well our server looks forward to the food products we bring him that are unique to our area. He is always excited to see that basket of food goodies!! And he makes sure we know it in hopes that we will bring more next cruise. LOL!!!

We also bring our own thank you cards and envelopes we put the "coupon" along with a little extra cash in the card and hand it to the cast members personally. Also for us our stateroom host is tipped (in cash) as soon as we meet him/her and then again on our last night as well.

I do customized envelopes ahead of time with the recommended tip amount cash inside...then I adjust the amount accordingly before I give it to them. I always "opt out" of the automatically charged gratuities at guest services.
