How do you know how much to tip when on the dining plan. We are a family of 4 and I am thinking $20 per each dinner table meal and $15 for a table breakfast.

Your receipt will tell you the cash price of your meal, as well as the breakdowns for (I think) 15, 18 and 20% tips.

We just tip about 20 percent of the total bill. I believe you get a recommended tip amount of total dollar amount at the end of each meal.

You will be presented a check with the amount due and there is a tip line for you to write in the amount you want to leave. Put your credit card into the tip book and remind your server that you want to use the DP for the food and that the credit card is for the tip. They will run your DP and then charge your credit card. You should have 2 slips to sign.

Thanks.

Non discounted bill, divide by 10, multiply by 2 (20%) :). At least, this is what WE do.... my parents worked in the Restaurant trade :(. And there are times I will leave a tip that is larger than the meal cost :).

I personal tipping habits is not a topic for discussion. There is a sticky thread at the top of the board on the mechanics of tipping

This thread is closed, thank you!
