what do people usually tip when you are only getting trash and towel service

We usually tip $3-$4 for trash and towel and usually $5-$6 for full housekeeping.

We tend to leave $15 on our last day only. This is typically day 5 for us and we leave the place almost ready for occupancy except for sanitizing, making beds, and vacuuming.

It depends if we are in a studio or a 1 bedroom. In a studio, we leave $5.00 for full cleaning, $2-3 for towels. In a 1 bedroom we leave $5.00 towel and $10.00 full service.

we are at boardwalk now, and since our place wasn't very clean to begin with, I wouldn't dare tip. All they did on the tidy day was empty the trash and drop off some towels. The entire room had some sort of "film" on it (old cleaner maybe), and we had to scrub everything down before we'd dare letting our kids run around.

There is no "tidy" day. Trash & Tidy service was officially changed years ago to Trash & Towel service, and that is all they are supposed to do on that day, empty the trash and replace towels.

You are correct that Disney does not consider housekeeping a "tipped" position like bell services and other "personal service" positions. Tipping is absolutely a personal choice.

I do tip the HK, and we've never had any major problems from our housekeepers, and often wind up with extra towels or washing the handful of dishes in a studio on T & T days, even though doing the dishes isn't on their duty list for that day.

I agree. I don't consider myself cheap (maybe I am and don't know it) but I never tip housekeeping either. To be honest I don't care if they do trash and towles or not. I could do this myself.

another one who doesn't consider hk a tipable service. i worked as a maid for a few years in my early 20's and although a few people left a tip 90% didn't - and i never expected it.


frankly i hate the idea of tipping period - when you pay the money you pay for the room you shouldn't be expected to tip. we paid thousands for the points and hundreds a year for dues - this should cover everything - same with food - if you want a cheap meal go to mickey d's you pay more for a sit down dinner and you shouldn't have to tip $5 for a burger gets you no service $20 get's it delivered to your table with a smile. since our society lives on tips we do tip at t.s meals reluctantly

interesting thing - my dh is a chef and never gets part of the tip. i never thought that made sense. the cooks make your meal exactly the way you ask for it the wait staff just take the order and deliver it ..... just thinking out loud.
