Tipping with Free Dining?

I know that the Free Dining doesn't include tip. About how much do you tip at a TS meal?

You should tip as if you were paying for the meal. Because you are still receiving the service.

Go to the menu's page and glance over the prices of what you most likely would order and you can plan accordingly.

The suggested tip is 18% for table service. Some tip more and some tip less based on service and personal preference.

Planning on tipping the same as we always doing 18 to 20% based on service.

My fear is that the waitstaff will be hurting as alot of people may just assume the tip is included and/or cheap out and not tip!

I hope that isn't the case!

Like most said between 15% to 20%. When it was included in the dining plan it was 18%. I think it depends on the service you get. But if it was really lousy I would talk to the manager about it to let them know what was wrong. MHO.

I usually at home leave 20% if good sometime in between lol

You will be presented with 2 checks, one showing the dinner total and room for your tip, the other the DDP receipt. (or some variation on this)

You will know what your dinner actual cost was and that should be the basis of your gratuity.

You can put it on your debit card at the same time that you present your KTTW card for them to 'swipe' the credits for the meal.

I'm confused, do they give you a receipt with a suggested tip amount? We were with a large party last year and they did that sometimes even though tip was "included" in the dinning plan. We just left "extra" anyway when the service was good

From what I understand is that they give you a bill that has the actual price of what the meal would cost. I'll be collecting these bad boys to see how much we truly saved with FD. Then they also give you a DDP receipt that would have how many meals and so forth that are left for your stay.

At the bottom of ALL TS receipts they now list the suggested amouns for a tip @ 18% and a tip @ 20% and the price of each. You can work with those amounts.

I was thinking b/w 15-20% tips so that's what we'll be doing dep. on service. Usually, service at WDW has been 20% for us

Most of our meals this year will be buffet style (Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Boma's), we usually tip pretty well depending on service, so my question is, would you still suggest 15 - 20% for the buffet meals as well?

We always do. Servers at buffets work as hard as servers at other restaurants when you consider how many plates they are removing from your table and bringing you drinks. The ones I've seen have really been running to get everything done. Now if they don't keep the table cleared or don't keep the glasses full that's a different story, but if they are working hard, then they deserve the 20%.

Thanks everyone who responded! I was sure if the tip was already added but apparently not! Which I like... As a former waitress I think it's only fair to tip based on the service given. I think when the tip is added already then there is no incentive to truly work hard and do your best for each customer. Thanks again!

If you were a former waitress why would you ask what to tip. I mean obviously you know that its 15-20 percent of the bill like anywhere else in the US. I understand that at Disney it is so much more expensive then outside of Disney but that is what we get into when we decide to go to Disney world. Actually the average Disney requires for a party of 6 or more or if you are using the DDE the tip is automatically added and its 18%. As a server now I have not problem with that, I am going to go in with a good attitude and if by some chance I get horrible enough service to get a manager over to remove it I will. Just curious, hope you have a great time at Disney World!!
