Do waiters (and mousekeeping) accept disney dollars as tips? We just thought it'd be fun to do the disney dollars, but I'm sure the novelty for them isn't as much fun. Should we just do regular money? Thanks!

I totally think that your heart is in the right place  but unfortunately Disney Dollars don't pay the mortgage - LOL. If you tip with Disney Dollars, you'd be essentially forcing a CM to spend their salary at Disney which (as crazy as it sounds to us) might not be too high on the priority list for them. I'd stay stick with cash and let them opt to spend their hard-earned money where they want to. (Now, if I could get my boss to start paying me in Disney Dollars, I'd be set).

I ended up finding some other posts when the darn search function started to work on doing this. I wasn't sure how easy it would be for them to exchange the dollars for real money. I didn't know if it would be something like how you turn in your CC tickets at the end of the night and get cash for those. Anyways, after reading other people's comments (and snarkiness) I'm sticking with regular cash since it'll make them go out of their way to get the money that they can spend :)

Plus, like I said before I'm sure the novelty of it all wore off long ago for many of them.

You can tip with Disney Dollars, but they'd probably prefer real dollars. The Disney Dollars can be exchanged, but why create an extra hassle for your waiter or mousekeeper?

Restaurant servers, specifically, probably would have the least problem with Disney Dollars as gratuities, since they can probably swap them dollar for dollar from the cash registers. (I'd like to get confirmation from a restaurant CM about that, though.)

With regard to housekeepers, they're not tipped personnel, so they really can't complain about the relative convenience or inconvenience of the gift you give them, so I wouldn't worry about using Disney Dollars for them either, if you choose to tip them.

However, I wouldn't use Disney Dollars for gratuities for valets or bell staff.

1) Disney Dollars can be used for any/all tips.
2) The person would simply trade them for real money at ANY cash register.

Thank you everyone for your responses. We'll probably tip regular money as it is easier for everyone involved.
