I'm sure this question has been posted before, so forgive me...I just don't have the time to search for it!
We are leaving in 6 days  and we have the dining plan. How do you tip??? Just leave the tip based on what your meal would normally cost???
Thanks for the advice!!! :sunny:

A 15% tip is included in the Dining Plan. In October we added additional tips for most of our meals. We felt that the service was great, so we added tip to bring it closer to what we would have tipped if we had not been on the plan.

I tipped up to make the total (What the plan included plus what I included) between 18-20 percent.

However, we didn't tip at buffets since I thought the 15 percent was adequate for that.

We tipped extra at: Ohana's, LTT, Mama Melrose, and Le Cellier

We didn't tip at Sci Fi (lunch), Crystal Palace/Park Faire Breakfast, or Trail's End.

I'd add 5-7 dollars to the ticket with my dining plan info.

We made sure to tip an extra 5% everywhere we ate at while on the dining plan, buffets included. We had really good service and thought they deserved the extra amount.

I believe the tips on the dining plan are 18%. Considering the prices of the meals and that most people on the plan get an appetizer, main course and desert, those tips are very good for the waiters/waitresses.

We tipped extra for almost all our meals on the meal plan. The only exception was Boatwright's for breakfast when I ordered ham and received bacon. Overall the service everywhere was exceptional.

We usually left a few extra dollars as well when we were on the plans since we had such great service.

A few times we left extra. The gratuity that is included is different at each place. At the Buffets (Chef Mickey's, Donalds, Crystal Palace, H&V) it was 15%, at the sit down places (Alfredo's, LTT) it was 18%. Just check your bill when you get it to see what the percentage is and add what you feel comfortable with.

Tip was included, but DH and I split several of the (adult) table service meals. When we shared the meal, I left an extra tip, so the server got what he/she would have gotten if we ordered two meals.

What about with two families??? I have always tipped extra depending on the service but now with the dining plan I don't know what to do. Do both families, (3) in each, leave a seperate tip? :confused3

With 2 families, can you do separate bills? That way, you'd each use your own credits and would be able to leave extra (if you want) in your own payment folder. If your credits are all mixed up together, I'd discuss it before the issue came up *at* the restaurants.

We were a group of ten, so the included tip was 18% automatically. I only tipped extra at Le Cellier, because there was some confusion about our Candlelight Processional package and our server (Ty) worked with us beautifully. Other than Ty, our servers were good but not outstanding.

When your server presents you with the bill that shows how many credits that you used, can you add the extra gratuity to your room? Or credit card? I'm just wondering b/c we bring very little cash with us and I'll want to make sure I have cash for tipping. Thanks!

Yes to both.

We tipped extra @ all meals, except for one meal w/horrible service. I think that's a problem w/plan...seems as though the waitstaff service has slipped a bit since pre-dining plan days...hope I'm proven mistaken on next trip.

Additionally, if you leave your table a mess; please tip extra. Even small children shouldn't make such a mess as I saw during our last visit. The longer it takes the staff to turn over the table for the next party, the longer the ADR's get backed up.

Not sure if its ALL buffets, but at least at trails end, the gratutity percentage was raised from 15 to 18 as of 01/01/06. Just a FYI.

I'm not suggesting anybody need tip over and above the amount covered by the Magic Your Way Dining Plan, and I'm not being critical but I am curious - how did you determine this was a service problem and not a kitchen issue? And is your server the one who brought your food to the table, or was it a runner?
