we're taking a Tiffany van from MCO to our resort then back to MCO. 20% min. gratuity is required & i thought that the employee who booked our reservation said to pay the 1st driver half of the 20% then the other half to the 2nd driver (although sometimes, it's the same driver round trip). did i hear correctly - is it 10% each way or 20% each way? probably a stupid question but i'm on a budget.

We tipped $10 each way. The $20 total tip was roughly 20% of our round trip fare of $95. I hope this was correct. $20 each way would be a bit steep.

Good question- The way I read it is that you would automatically be charged 20% on the each way fare.
The last time we used them a year ago there was not a mandatory20% tip - Which I feel is too high when they are the most expensive to begin w/
Anyone have any recent experience?

I used tiffany in January 2004 and again in Ocotober 2004. My view on this is a total of 20%. or 10 bucks each way. That being said, our january trip was my family and my sisters family, so there were 9 of us. We stopped at a grocery store, and tipped 15 bucks, plus bought the driver a twelve pack of corona. Tipped the straight 10 bucks on the trip back. In October, it was me and my bro in law. We had our golf clubs and we got to the airport almost two hours late. Our driver was there with a smile. He got 20 bucks for that trip and the same guy got 10 bucks on the way home. I don't know if this helps. I assumed the meaning was 10 bucks each way for a hundred dollar ride, but I have always been generous probably from my years as a waiter and bartender during my school days.

We used Tiffany in June, the tip is not mandatory but suggested.
We had the same driver each way, but broke the tip down for each leg. We rented a van for $95.00 20% of that was $19.00 or $9.50 each leg of the trip. We actually gave him $15.00 each way due to all the luggage we had.

The van rate is now showing $110.00 RT . Has it gone up that much since June? Yikes!

It's not a dumb question, I asked this myself!

The way it was explained to me was that you pay 10% to each driver, for a total of 20%. Of course you can always tip more if you want to, or feel it's deserved for service above and beyond.

m&m's mom

I think the price went up just after we booked Tiffany I think all the Town Car companies increased their rates at the same time.

Thanks for the input...according to their website, 20% minimum tip is required, not optional, so i was concerned to think that i HAD to pay 20% each way - that would be steep for me. i must have heard the lady at Tiffany correctly but i was too embarassed to verify it in case it was 20% each way. she must have said 10% each way is required - tipping each driver in case it's not the same driver. i'm probably going to tip the 1st driver 15% b/c we're stopping at the grocery store & 10% on the trip back to the airport.
p.s. it's $110 (-$5 coupon) for the van. i booked it yesterday for jan. 05.

I will say this. Tiffany has treated us well the last two times, but to say a 20% tip is required, just doesnt seem right to me. Maybe I am old fashioned and just feel like a tip should be earned. I will continue to use Tiffany, but something strikes me wrong about a required tip. Why not just jack the price up 20% and say tip is included. Ok, I will be quiet now.

Kirbsam..I agree with you. I always tip well and continue to do so, however, I will not use a service that tells me I have to tip 20%.
