Hi all!

We are back from Hawaii! :sunny:

As I was reading the post about room soaps, I wondered how many people tip your maid and if you do then when or how often?

Does it vary depending on which resort you stay in?

I am embarrassed to say that I hadn't given much thought to tipping the maid....

Now in retrospect I wonder if maybe I have been negligent and rude.

To be honest the only time I think about tipping the maid service is when we have been on a cruise and I have direct contact with them often.
(I admit I almost never see my Old Key West maid!)

So I am wondering what you all do..... tip every day? don't tip? tip at the end of your trip? and how much?

Please no one yell at me if I should have been tipping but havent! As a rule we are generous tippers if the service has been good!

$5 per day for the 4 of us. We tip per day as the person who cleans on your last day, may not be the person you had at the start. Except on DVC stays. We do most of the work then and tip some at the end of the stay.

Tip daily....$1 per person unless we are really messy, then a little more.

We are DVC members and tip the days they are suppose to do a towel change and on the 7th day.

I have never tipped any housekeeper in my life. I was not even aware it was a position that people tipped until I started reading these boards. In all honesty we are not messy people, we even make our own beds up when we leave for the parks.:wave2:

$3-5 per day for the two or three of us, depending on the etype of accomodations we have. Another $2 for turndown service where applicable.

Don't tip at all, unless there was some extreme circumstance in which the room was trashed or we were there a really long time adn they did extra stuff for us. Both neither of those things would happen probably...

I'd never heard of tipping housekeeping until this board. Not that it's bad, I just don't do it... =)

Where in Hawaii did you visit?

I tip around $3 for each day. The room maids do have different shifts and they don't get paid very much since part of their pay would be the tips that they recieve. I am also bringing a little gift if we do run into our room maids and for the front desk and other employees that help us on our trip.

We went to Maui.. stayed in Kaanapalii.

Well tipping will be something new to consider this coming trip.

Thanks for the info BTW!!!!!

When I was growing up, my parents always tipped the housekeeper on the last day of our vacation. I always did the same until I realized that the staff does not always work the same section, etc every day. We now tip every day -- $1/person.

THis is the first trip I have ever tipped housekeeping. I did $2 a day (for DD and I). I had never heard of tipping housekeeping either until I came here.

We do $5.00/day for the 4 of us no matter where we stay...All Stars or Poly, its the same.
