I have a couple questions on tipping room service. My last Disney cruise I was told up front NOT to tip room service, because, for the most part, it was your room steward that delivered room service. We would also order room service to be delivered for a late night snack for our kids to be in our room when we returned
(we were not there for delivery). We obviously tipped our room steward more at the end of the cruise.

What has your experience been? What have you done on tipping for room service? Thanks!

When we ordered room service it was not our room steward that delivered the food. We ordered it several times and never had our room steward. I am pretty sure we had a different person each time and we did tip them. If I remember correctly you can sign for the tip.

We've cruised 3 times and must have ordered room service about 20 times and our room steward never delivered anything ordered from from service.

Two or Three dollars depending on what you order is a general rule for room service tips.

AmyM,

I'm just curious to know who it was that told you up-front not to tip for room service?

Ironically, I got it from these boards:D From what I can assertain, things have changed since my last cruise. We were on close to the maiden voyage of the Wonder and I have read of many changes since then. Last cruise we ordered room service 6 times, 2 we were not there for the delivery, 3 were by our room steward and 1 was not.

I've NEVER had the room steward deliver room service. And we order room service for breakfast every day, plus a few other assorted times during a cruise.

I always tip them a few dollars. :)

On our 6 DCL cruises we have never had the room steward deliver room service. We have been sailing on DCL from the very first sailing of the Magic way back in '98. The whole point of tipping for room service is because it is not your regular server at all. As far as I know, the people who deliver room service are a part of the dining department, not housekeeping.
