If we arrive at the port via a limo - will a porter come to take our bags or do we have to take them somewhere to check them? If a porter helps us - what is a customary tip, based on 7-8 bags?

On return, if we use a porter to take us and our bags through customs and then to our shuttle van - what is a customary tip?

Thanks,
Tammy

Usually we tip $1 a bag, but if we only have 1 or 2 bags we'll give a little more. At least you will only have to handle the tipping twice, not like at the resort when you tip the person at the airport, then the driver when he drops you off, then the bell hop in your room & do it all again at the end of the trip!! Good luck!:D

We got dropped off by the shuttle from the Radisson. They drop you off right under a tent - and your bags get loaded onto large luggage transport things. There is a person there helping with the luggage. DH gave this individual the tip to him. My guess was around $10 for our 6 bags. The person taking the bags didn't have to move them far. I am also assuming that limos would be dropping people off in the same spot.

Upon disembarking - get a porter immediately. They know how to find your luggage quickly. In addition, they get you through customs so fast you won't have to worry about it. It was a long walk to the area where the limos pick people up. My DH was insistent on NOT getting a porter. I pretty much had a fit about this. I was too tired to have to lug luggage lord knows how far. (this was our first cruise). We tipped this person very well - we had a ton of stuff - not only our original 6 bags, but all our carryons too. I've seen on a previous post that an appropriate tip for the porters is $2.50/bag. Seems like a lot - THIS IS SO WORTH IT.
