When taking the DDP I see that tips are not included, so do they automatically bill you for the tip & if so how much do they take 15%, 20%?
Or do they leave you to leave a tip of your choice?

18% will be on bill

how does it work for free dining? do they put it on the bill in that case as well?

even for free dinning the tip is 18% an prented to you on the bill
You have to hand in your KTTW card for them to remove credits from it.only one per room required.on return of card sil should say how many credits left after credits removed for meal.plus surgested tip on ot for you to pay

They will put suggested amounts of 18 and 20% to the bottom of the bill, but it's only if you are a party of 6 or more, that they will automatically add 18% to your bill.

so they have the suggested amount, but you put down what you want...
DD will be on the free dining plan in september, so i'll let her know...

Have looked into this as we are a party of 6 on the DDP in September 08. They do only add the 18% to the bill if you are a party of 6 or more. I think I read this on the Disney webiste.

If you are less than 6 they suggest how much you should pay, but is usually between 15 to 20%.

Yes this is rightThere are 3 of us and I looked into this and its only added automatically if 6 or more.I always leave about 10 dollars anyway on a $60 meal so thats about 18% (I think).Always left this on the old plan when tip was included.Did have bad service once at mama melrose though so left her $2-big attitude problem-literally threw my soup at me.Unfortunatley for her her manager saw her:lmao:

there is a long and comlicated thread on the restaurant board about tippiing.
On our 1st trip we went to Tony Romas for my birthday and got talking to the waiter (who was lovely btw) he explained that he got paid about $1.30 an hour nad the rest was tips. He got taxed on tips whether he received them or not.
Dh is a head chef and i used to be a restaurant manager before retraining as a teacher, so we both know how hard staff work and how bad working conditions are in general.
disney staff are paid poorly too, yes, we all have examples of poor service (mine was HandV where we were served raw chicken!) but in generl staff go out of there way to make our holidays special. I too leave a poor tip (1 cent) if the service merits it, and yes it adds "alot" to our budget but i think its worth it, its the same as tipping valets and mousekeeping, they work hard and deserve a beer - imo.
didnt mean to ramble, sorry

we go as a party of 10 so tip is always 18% wherever we eat.But to be honest disney food prices are inflated compaired to off-site.one of the reasons lot of complaints about tipping

sorry to go off topic slightly but do you tip the guy who brings your car at the hire place.

When we used VH and the guy bought the car to us - he showed us how the controls worked and helped DH load our cases so I tipped him $5.

I don't think he was used to it though as he seemed a bit surprised - must be used to dealing with Brits who don't always know the tipping customs.
