This is really a 2 part question.

We have the DxDP, 2 adults and 4 kids, one child isn't on the DxDP because he is only 1y/o. I know that parties of 6 or more get charged the auto tip amount, do we get charged this even if baby won't be eating or ordering a meal at all?

And if we do have the % added how does that work on the DDP? Do they just give you a bill with the meals paid and the total showing what cash amount you owe for tips?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it to the correct forum, and TIA

If you haven't ordered any extras you meal will be paid in full by your dining plan credits and on the bottom of the receipt the tip will be suggested....I think it shows 15, 18. and 20%...please correct me if I'm wrong but I think it shows at least a suggested 18 and 20%, which you can leave or whatever you feel appropriate.

The tip will be based on the total of what you would have paid...so if a meal is not ordered for your youngest..then that will not be figured into the tip.

Ok, I just wasnt sure since what I saw said that for "parties of 6 or more an automatic 18% tip will be added onto the total...I'm glad it tells you on the bottom of the bill what those amounts are, when I do it in my head I always have to round all the numbers off first, lol.

With parties of six or more the tip isn't optional. You have to pay a tip of at least 18% of what the bill would have been had you not had the dining plan.

And, instead of cash, you can still use the room charge feature of the KTTW Card and charge the tip.

That is what I was wondering about, would the 1y/o be counted as the 6th person since he won't order a meal?

That is good to know, I hate to carry around a lot of cash.

So when we get the bill it will show the meal part paid for by the DDP and then the automatic tip amount as a charge that needs to be paid instead of just giving us the option of leaving our own amount on the table along with anything ordered that is not covered by the DDP, is that correct?

Yes, if you order alcohol or something else, you will have that on the bill and at the bottom, just like non WDW restaurants, there will be a place for you to handwrite in the tip. You may end up with several copies of the receipt, since you will get one that shows how many TS meals were redeemed/ remaining and then the other receipt with the room charge. It is not confusing, just extra paper. Let your server know you are on the DP.

Yes your 1 year old will be counted as the 6th person if they you don't order for them or give them any food from the restuarant.

We went with a 6 month old 2 years ago and a 1 1/2 year old last year and he was considered in our party #.

If you charge the tip rather than giving cash, does the server actually see the money??

I remember when I was waitressing and people would tip on their credit card, it used to annoy the living daylinghts out of me as this money (IF we actually ever saw it, most of the time we wouldn't) would go into a pool of money and get divided up evenly between everyone, even those who did a lousy job.

But maybe this is different in the States??

The Disney Company is an ethical employer - so, yes. There are records of which server earned how much in charged tips.

Thank you BriarRosie :goodvibes (I was up in the ER with my son and didn't catch this earlier)

Here's a link to the tipping thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2300858 If you read the first post it explains why we have one thread, gives general guidelines, and has a FAQ that (as BriarRosie said) answers the questions you asked.
