I will have my first DVC stay in October. I am staying for 7 nights at SSR. I think I am clear that I will get only a trash and towel service on Day 4. How much do you tip for trash and towel service?

It all depends on the mousekeeper you get. Some are very friendly and some won't even say hello to you. Depending on the length of our stay we usually give $5-$15. A friend of mine who is at WDW said that the amount we give is fari being most people don't give anything but they are really not allowed to take any tips and are suppose to turn in any money left in the room. We usually put it in an envelope or card for the mousekeeping person. pirate:

We only tip a couple of bucks for trash and towel. It also depends on the size of our villa. We leave a 20.00 at the end of our stay to the mousekeepers who have to clean up after us.

If and amount are up to you. Disney does not consider housekeeping a tipped position.

So where does the money go if they have to turn it in??? I want to tip (if the service is good), but I don't want to if the mousekeeper doesn't even get it!
By the way, I'm staying in a studio. I figured a couple of dollars for trash and towel service. Didn't think about the full cleaning that happens after we leave. I guess that should be tipped too!

If you tip, just be sure that it is clearly marked as being for Housekeeping. You can put in an envelope, or just write "Housekeeping" on a piece of paper (there is usually a pen and notepad by a phone in the room).

Unless mousekeeping does something special for us (such as towel animals) we don't tip.

We always tip housekeeping. They leave a card in the bathroom with their name on it, so we leave the money under their card. I think that's why the card is left there. We leave $2 for towel and trash and $5 when we leave. They work VERY hard. I think they work a lot harder than bell services. They also have access to all of your belongings, so you want to keep them happy. ;)

I've noticed if we tip in regular hotel rooms (non-DVC resorts), our room is always ready right after lunch. We never have to wait. :thumbsup2

We've had 2 DVC vacations that lasted more than 3 nights & haven't tipped on either one.
The first was at WL & housekeeping helped themselves to soda out of our fridge

The second stay was at BCV. On T&T day, she came at 8 am, knocked on the door, and handed a stack of towels to my son while I was in the shower :confused3 No trash, no refills on stuff (coffee & Tide), and I ended up with a gazillion towels in our rooms (we had a 2 bedroom). The room wasn't exactly what I would call clean when we got there either

We never tip. We ALWAYS seem to have problems during our stay. So I don't even feel bad about it anymore.
