Tipping Mousekeeping & Dining Question

First about mousekeeping, we went on a Disney cruise last May and we tipped our room steward at the end of the trip, last day. Is that how you tip Mousekeeping, or do you tip them daily?

Second, we are on the dining plan and I read somewhere that tipping is not included anymore on the dining plan. So my question is, how do you tip when on the dining plan? Do you actually get a bill so you can see a total to know how much to tip, or is it something you just guesstimate?:confused3

TIA

I was just reading a heated discussion about tipping on the restaurant board (?), and someone mentioned mousekeeping is a non - tipping position; they actually ran into trouble because mousekeeping took the tip but didn't clean up the room... I'm sure others here will discuss, but you may want to ask @ the front desk. And I KNOW other people will explain the dining plan. Good luck!

we left a $5 tip each day and there were 3 of us in the room (2A, 1C). our room was cleaned to my satisfaction each day and DD even got a towel animal on our 3rd day. as for the new dining plan- we were always automatically given a receipt on the old plan, so if you don't get one, i'd ask for a receipt and leave an 18%-20% tip if the service was very good (servers got 18% on the old dining plan, regardless of level of service) and adjust the percentage accordingly if the service was less than stellar.

As for mousekeeping, if you want to tip, tip daily because you may have a different mousekeeper each day. For rest. I beleive you know get a receipt with several suggested tip amounts on the bottom(15%, 18% 20%).

Now as to mouskeeping being considered a nontipped postion that is because they are paid at the standard minimum wage(maybe a bit more than min, but you get the idea). Servers are paid a lot less than the standard minimum because it is expected that they will get tips to make up the difference. Tipped and nontipped are more designations for the federal employment laws, to help determine who can ge that below minimum wage, they in no way indicated who makes a "living" wage.

head over the dinning boards and read about the tipping.... but pretty much you get a bill that tells you what the 18% tip would figure out to and what the 20% would figure out to then a spot for you to write in the tip amount so they can charge you on your card or if you are leaving cash write in "cash" on that line HTH

I know that on our trips, we have left 5 dollars a day and there are 4 of us in the room. We did however have the same wonderful woman clean our room for our last trip for the entire week. At the end of our week, we gave her an extra 10 as a thank you for going out of her way with us. I have learned that this is NOT expected from reading other posts on here. We didn't know that. That being said though, we will continue to tip every trip. We've been very lucky every trip to have wonderful people take care of our room. So as far as tipping mousekeeping, do what you feel comfortable with.:thumbsup2

For mousekeeping we tip daily, $1/person so for us its $5 a day. I've not heard about the tip not being included in DDP. Is it the same for the Deluxe plan?
