I know there are several threads out there on tipping mousekeeping. Having read them, I am more confused. I am wondering about tipping mousekeeping at GF. Correct me if I am wrong, but I have read that turn-down service is standard for every room at GF (we did not get it every night on our last trip). I have seen where some people leave an envelope in the morning and one in the evening.

DW and I are very neat people, but I am not sure what to tip - $2 in the morning and $2 in the evening for just the two of us?

Also, if you leave two envelopes, how do you handle the days where you do not return to the hotel midday?

We usually leave a tip in the morning, not at night....We actually left some money sitting on the night stand for the maid and she never took it because it was not in an envelope. It's really not required....its just a nice thing to do ;)

We are the same way......we are very neat....have everything put away...all they have to do is make the bed......AND WE USE TO DO THAT!  lol

I think 2 is plenty once a day ;)

Have a great trip.

Just looked at your countdown clock...Looks like you will be there when we are! ::yes:: We may bump into each other and not even know it!

I do this even when I'm not travelling with children, I make up tip envelopes before leaving for vacation. It's so much easier to budget out the right amount of money and then I stop by the bank and get how ever many dollar bills I'll need. It's great not having to search for those dollars as you're heading out the door of your resort. When we arrive, I stash all my envelopes in the safe. They are marked as either mousekeeping or turn down, along with the date. Each day, I set out the envelopes. If I know that I won't be returning to the room all day, I'll leave out both and as they're clearly marked, each service knows which one is theirs.

As for the tip amount, that is entirely a personal choice. I will mention that the turn down service is very nice. When you re-enter your room in the evening, the lights are on low, the TV is usually turned on to the Disney channel, your bed is ready along with some chocolates and if you did use any towels after ordinary mousekeeping services, you'll receive fresh ones. Both services do a little more than just make the bed for you. The bathroom is cleaned daily, the floors vacuumed, towels exchanged, at least that's what we experienced with the GF's housekeeping.

If you don't want turn down service, you can simply call housekeeping and let them know.

Also, you will probably not have the same person twice, so leaving the tips out on that day would ensure they get into the correct persons hands.

Have a great stay at the GF.

We didn't tip at night at the GF.

I left an envelope most days, and doubled up when I forgot to leave it the day before....oops.
