Tipping Magical Express Driver??

Silly question...since they don't handle our luggage anymore, do we still tip the driver? If so, what's appropriate?

If you utilize the inbound luggage service, and/or the resort airline check-in service, then it is up to you on tipping. If you feel that the driver went above and beyond, and has provided exemplary guest service, then by all means.

If the driver does handle your luggage, it is customary to tip. Disney's Magical Express only takes care of gratuities for the inbound bell services if the luggage service is utilized.

I believe this question may have been answer in some of the other Magical Express thread discussions before, so you may find your answer in some of the early posts on this board.

In short, it depends on if you want your luggage transported (by truck) to your room directly by Disney, or if you want to handle the bag claim process yourself and you bring the luggage to the Bus, if the Luggage is transported with you on the bus then you should tip the bus driver, that is, if he/she has to load it into the cargo area of the bus, but if you are not bringing any luggage on the bus then you don't have to tip the driver.

Also in some instances it may be necessary for the luggage to be bought with you on the bus depending on your circumstances with your airline on out-going flights, so you will need to check out some of the other posts on this board for more info.

There is very little space on the DME bus for your larger carry on bags. Almost any bag that you put in the overhead bins in your airplane will wind up going under the bus. It's customary to tip $1-$2 per bag.

The luggage hold is not self-service. The driver determines how the luggage hold gets loaded and unloaded. The driver knows which luggage hold sections corresponds to which stops.

ITA..I was responding to Lewis' comment about stowing items inside the bus, and making sure some people knew that there are reasons that people do have to tip....in rereading Lewis' post I guess he was trying to say the same thing...sorry Lewis
