I've read that your supposed to tip the limo driver 20%. Do you tip the driver on each leg of the round trip? Or do you just do it at the end of the trip at the airport? What if you have diferent drivers back and forth to the airport? I don't want to upset the driver. Thanks for all replies.

I always tip separately. Both times we did round trips with Tiffany we had a different driver on the way back. I usually give $10 each way.

Good point. I hadn't thought about that issue before. We had a limo the first time and we tipped about $30 total. We had a towncar last trip and we tipped $15 on arrival and $10 leaving. I think we overtipped the last time:eek:

I'm thinking it's better to tip each driver separately ... just in case they're different.

This trip, I'll be taking a limo and a towncar ... I'm guessing for a 20% tip, I'll probably give the limo driver $20-$30 and the towncar driver $10-$15... The limo ride will be about $100 and the towncar will be about $50. I may give a little more to the limo driver because I suspect we'll have more bags because we're doing a grocery stop. I'm hoping that will be enough, but I'm not sure...

That was a towncar. I think our total roundtrip was around $80. So $10 each way was more like 25%. We got great service so I gave extra.

I guess I'm going to tip the driver $20.00 each way and $5.00 if I think it was better than average service. We will be packing very light. 2 med. bags for the four of us. We will have a grocery stop in there also. Thanks for everyone's insight... Ho, Ho, HO....

You tip that much over and beyond the amount already charged in the bill? I have to admit it is a very embarassing situation to tell a driver "your tip is already in the bill", but do they really expect that much more?

Some of the towncar services put the tip in the total price, but others don't. Tiffany does not. If I was using a service that included the tip in the price, I might add another $5 each way. I really prefer to decide for myself how much I want to tip. It usually works out to be more than if 'the company' decides what it will be. I figure that there is more incentive to give better service if the tip amount is up to the customer.

I won't use a company that includes the tip in the price, ymmv.

I generally tip a bit more on the way from the airport to the hotel due to the grocery stop and having to wait around a the airport etc. The way from the resort seems a bit smoother - we are waiting in front and usually do curbside check in. I do tip each leg separately as the drivers often don't do both legs of the trip.

The tips weren't included in the price that I was quoted ... in fact, in the confirmation e-mail I received, it suggested that I give the driver a minimum of 20% Maybe it's something that they've had a problem with in the past ... I dunno. :p Has anyone had a situation where the driver has said something about the tip ... I'm always worried that I might offend them by not tipping enough. :)

Seemd like tip %'s keep climbing up and up - someone would really have to impress me to get 20%+ - not that I am cheap but that kind of tip required excellent service

thanks

i was wondering this as well as the company i am thinking of using is going to automatically add 20% in. do the drivers understand that it is already included? i don't want to tip any more when it is included but will this be frowned upon??

I would think they know that the tip is in the price. I really don't like to go with a company that the tip is included, but I ended up getting a discount for Happy Limo for roundtrip with grocery stop for $201.00. That's with the tip included. Fl. Tours was a little higher with the tip. I'll post this when we get back. Thanks for all repies!!
