Ok - so say I order the cheese platter and some cookies and milk....what do you tip? How much for four complete meals? Need to know how much cash to bring....thanks guys!
Bump to get more opnions but for me it depends on the service I receive. Since my Mom is a waitress, I have a propensity to tip 15% and then move up or down according to the service received. - Mike
I guess that depends on how much you plan on using room service. We had (25) $2.00 bills to tip room service. Our DD 12 called for room service about 6 times during our 7 day cruise, and gave a $2.00 bill each time for a tip. DD got a kick out of ordering room service, I think we may have created a monster, as she expected the same treatment when we got back home.
We tipped $2 when they brought a snack (we only ordered a snack once or twice) and $5 every morning when they brought a full breakfast (we were in a Cat 3 and ate a hot breakfast in the room every morning).
We tipped $2 min then $1 for each additional person ordering. So $5 if all four of us ordered midnight snacks. I kept a stack of $1's in the drawer by the bed handy.
I was wondering this too, and I like Veranda Man's idea of the two dollar bills. I think that's fair, unless you're ordering complete meals or very large snacks.
Where did you find $2 bills? I tryed to get a couple for my kids for their coin collections and the banks out here in California say they haven't seen them in years.
Before I travel I always hoard $1 and $5 bills for tips, usually have about $50 in "small bills" for tips, airport vending machines etc.

I just bought 60- $1.00 bills from my daughter. She had them stashed in her jewerly box (she never spends her aloowances) so Igave her 3-$20.00's for them. At first she thought it was a rotten deal that she was giving me all those dollars and only getting 3 in return but after explain to her the difference she was ok with it....heck she is only 4 years old and to her 60 bills shouldn't equal just 3!
