Tipping for Housekeeping

I think the key may be that our room is well-policed every morning.

This! We too tidy our room as much as we can at any hotel stay. I once helped a friend who is a hotel-owner and I was truly shocked at the condition of some of the rooms.
We have only stayed at values, always tipped ($1-$2 per day per person) and most days have a towel animal left for us.

We tipped $5.00 per day on our last trip and at the end of our trip our mousekeeper told us thank you so much for leaving money every day!It was really touching to have her say that!

We plan on tipping $5/day and having DD draw a picture. She is 9 and a very good artist- she draws animals (and everything, but especially animals) better than most adults! Her pictures are always quirky and fun - last time we were at a hotel, she drew a picture of a hand with a duster, showing the "motions" of the duster, sweeping up popcorn LOL. When we came back to the room, there was a note from the housekeeper (we were at Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin) saying how much she loved the picture and if it was OK to keep it :)

We have some neat customized mousekeeping envelopes one for each night. We are a family of 4 and leave $5 each night. We keep things pretty tidy. Our mouse keepers have been fantastic and we always get an awesome towel animal.

Thank you all for the info. We will be going in September and I was unsure how the best way to do it is and how much we should tip. You have been most helpful! Much appreciated!
Congrats on your first post!

We tip $5.00 a day--family of 5. Our last trip I decided to make the envelopes with the $5.00 bills in advance for each night of our stay. I put them in our safe. Each morning before we left for the parks I took one out and put under the blue card on the bathroom vanity that Mousekeeper left with her name. It was always gone when we returned.:goodvibes

We tip $5 a day with envelopes for each day. For 9 nights our keeper will make $45 which for 20x9=180 minutes or 3 hours worth of work takes her hour rate from $9/ hr tonf@@

And even if you don't consider just our hours, that takes them for a 40 hr week from $9 to $10 an hour.

We tip daily also. I let DD (2) decorate plain envelopes with Disney stickers after I've written the day on each envelopes.

We have gotten animals but not daily. Sounds like we need to pick up our room a little more on this trip!

We had one housekeeper go above and beyond last trip. As a result, we tracker her down and asked her the days she was working. She had a nice tip waiting for her on her last day. It was also the holidays, though.

I've never had a problem with our Mousekeeprs not taking their tip. I've had thank you notes left where the money was on a few different occasions. Considering we leave our room in mildly rough shape and it's spotless when we get back, $1-2/day/person isn't much. I don't consider $9/hr much money when you factor in all the hard work they do with relatively no thanks.

We tip $5 a day for Mousekeeping in printed Disney envelopes that I make.

If we get turn down service we usually tip $3.
